you have to get new shocks with any option you do. higher ride height means more travel which equals longer shocks

    On another note,
tie rods... do you install them a different way on the maxtrac spindles from the stock spindles???

tie rods go on one way and one way only the taper on the tie rod should match the taper on the spindal

This. You will need to get ones with extra length to compensate.

I haven't read everyone's replays yet but I can say simply that with the stock wheels and 285's and 2" spacers I didn't not rub on the cab mount with 4" of lift. I recently had the 2" spacers up front with the stock struts so just the maxtracs for lift. I have my fender flares removed and a tube bumper up front. I had 0 rubbing.

With that being said you should be able to run 305's with just the maxtracs and only trim plastic such as the fender flares.

@SpruceTaco and anyone else that has made the jump from 285's to 35's how big of a mpg drop did you see? I have a set of TRD sport wheels sitting in my carport awaiting tires and I really want 35's but right now 17.5-18 mph is already kinda low.

Last time I checked I got 17.8 on about 50/50 city/highway & 20 straight highway. That's with me factoring in the size difference of 14.6% because you actually travel farther than the odometer says. 35's are 14.6% larger than stock. So it's odometer reading + 14.6% ÷ number of gallons to fill the tank.
My tires are also pretty light for 35's at 65 lbs compared to like Toyo MT's at 83 lbs.

That's great to know, Thanks. I use to calculate my mpg with that percent difference but it only made for about .5 mph with the 285's. I'm trying to find a balance between a cheap tire and a light tire

    That's what i'm gonna get. Either 305/70r16 or 285/75r16. The 305's are 57LBS (speed rating Q) and the 285's are 55LBS (also Q)

Yeah i saw them at Walmart too. Looks like Amazon might be a better deal with free shipping. $196 for 305 but now over $200 for the 285s...

Actually just ran out for lunch and saw a Ford explorer with the MXT's in 285/70-17 and those looked pretty damn small. Maybe it was just them on that truck but for a 4"+ lift with the Maxtracs with these tires i would suggest 295 (if they make it) or 305.
