Been wanting these spindles for a while. Now I'm ready to pull the trigger but can't decide on what set up to get and would like feedback.

My 2010 Access Cab only has 43k on it. So I don't drive it as much as I'd like to and it will hardly ever see a trail. With that said, I am going more for the look of a lifted truck as opposed to the capabilities of an off-roader. Current set up is stock coils on Bilsteins set at .85. Stock rear TSB leaf spring and Bilsteins. The rear sits an inch higher than the front.

Original plan: Maxtrac spindles up front. 3" blocks in the rear, extended travel Bilsteins, Maxtrac brake line extension bracket with carrier bearing drop. Rims - ProComp 1089 17x8, 0 offset and 4.5 BS (got a great deal on them). Tires - 285/70/17 (33x11.50) Toyo Open Country A/T II. I am assuming this will fit with hardly any rubbing. Am I correct?

Thinking about it: 6.5" Maxtrac Spindle Lift Kit. Dropping the front Bilsteins to 0, installing the 2.5" strut spacer and 4" spindle for 6.5" in the front. 4" blocks with extended Bilsteins in the rear. Thinking 285/75/17 (34x11.50) on ProComp 1089 17x8 rims would fit. My concern is that because of the 2.5" lift spacer, I would need new UCAs. Anyone run 2.5" lift spacers and had alignment problems with the stock UCA? Also, with the 34's would I need trim the fender and do a cab mount chop?

    Thanks in advance!

For your original plan, you may need to do some minimal trimming, but would probably only rub on full lock out. I would avoid blocks, especially that large. You would be better off with a progressive AAL or a new leaf pack.

For your second idea, spacers are never a good idea. Ride will be awful and travel will be limited. You would be better off setting your Bilsteins to a higher clip setting, or getting some Eibach lift springs. 34's will definitely require trimming and most likely a CMC. You'll be fine running stock UCAs under 2.5" of lift. Many people do without issue. Just know that with stock gearing, the truck will struggle a bit with the 34's. A lot more weight and much larger diameter than stock.

Keep it simple and don't try to do it cheap. Cheap=disappointment and frustration and will cost more in the long run.

I have the Bilsteins set at the 3rd notch so 1.75” with the spindles. The rear has 2” block and 2” AAL. The ride is still comfortable and my 285/70/17s have no rubbing issues. Before I put the Bilsteins on I had to trim some because it would rub a little on the edge of the fender and the front of the wheel well pan.

I am currently running my Bilsteins on the second notch (.85") and will be adding the the spindles. Did you go with the 3rd notch just to clear or will the 2nd notch be okay? Are you sitting level? And what shocks are you running in the rear?

I cleared fine with just the spindles. I added the bilsteins and AAL just for more lift. I’m running Pro Comp 9000s on the rear. It’s pretty much level. The pic on the right is after the Bilsteins and AAL.

Nice truck! Exactly the stance that I was going for. Thanks for the feedback and the pics. Just ordered my spindles today from Marie at HeadStrong. Now the wait . . .

Some shots of the install. Did the work by myself.

Driver's side - before. The brakeline was such a headache! The factory over-tightened the fitting so it "belled" and was difficult to remove. Lost a lot of brake fluid and let in a lot of air.
    20201107_111830.jpg

Passenger side - after. This side went really smoothly.

Painted Maxtrac logo peeking out above the tire.

Getting a set of 285/70/17 installed tomorrow so I'll post pics of the truck later.

Here she is with her new shoes!
Billies set at .85" with Maxtrac spindles. 285/70/17 on 8" wide Procomp wheels. Really happy with the way it turned out!
    20201121_155500_HDR.jpg

I thought the spindles would kick out the front more but its actually not too bad.
    20201121_155531_HDR.jpg

I added spidertrax spacers in the rear to even it out.

I put on a 2” block and it was pretty level. I think 3” would have kept the factory rake.

If you're on a budget. You can go with a wheelers 2inch add a leaf and you can probably squeeze an extra inch if you get the half inch shims and the 3 degree axle shims from Toytec and pair them with the add a leaf. Should look pretty level with the spindles up front.
