2.7L with 35s? Being fine? Wow you must have one of those magical engines:D I felt like my 4.0 with 33s and stock gears was boggy and re-gearing was probably my favorite mod especially after 35s. I think it depends on how you drive, I don't want to stomp on the gas just to go up a hill and with gearing i can easily stay in 5th and still pass cars going up a hill at 75+ without getting a running start.
I also don't drive like a grandma, with stock gearing it took forever to get up to 45-50 with normal acceleration. Now with gears I can get up to speed and it doesn't feel like I'm working the truck as hard but i do agree about the freeway RPMs being high but 4.56s work great for 33-35s as well.
Gearing also makes a world of a difference in the dirt if your doing any high speed stuff, i think for crawling it could be okay but I have no experience in that.

It depends on the weight as well, I have about 200lbs+ in the bed all the time, my wheels are about 110lbs per wheel and my LT lower arms weight much more than stock so maybe with my setup the gearing/weight works out perfectly but it seems like 4.88s are a bit overkill with JUST 35s.

Thats just my experience with gears and most people love them as well!

For the guy talking about 35s just chop the cab mount and hammer the pinch weld flat. If your afraid of cutting/hammering some spots back then just go with 33s and make your life much easier:eek:

I've got Maxtrac spindles with Billy's all around(set at zero), stock UCAs and All Pro Expedition leaf packs in rear. I've got Nitto Terra Grappler 34's on 18's. I got 6.5" BS wheels but put 1.25" spidertrax all over to push it out to the required 4.75 BS. No caliper issues. We had to do the usual trimming but not bad at all. Just watch driveways and reversing too hard at full lock. Lol. Hiatt turned me on to Sick Nicks Fab, he can do all te welding/cutting and pinch weld beating. Good people.

I'd like to see some pics if you have them. I was debating on the regular all pro leaf pack or expo... And I would like to see your setup. Any help would be much appreciated

You dont have to remove the bed from what I understand. Just the bolts at the front of the cab.

I remember reading somewhere that duct tape on a stick holding the correct tool on the end was the key... :notsure:

But seriously there is a pic floating around of the wrench or whatever duct taped to a broom handle to turn those bolts...

I cut off that part of the glass since its a pain in the ass to get to and I made new supports out of metal like my other mounts. It goes straight from the glass to the bed but since its one of the bolts attached Straight to the glass it's much easier. I can have my bedsides off in 10 minutes, those 2 or 3 bolts alone took me like 30 minutes to remove the stock bedsides lol.
It's so much easier and yes once ur cage is welded I don't know anyway to remove the bed.

My setup is the MaxTrac spindles, billies at 2.5", LR UCA's, and extended brake lines for the front. The rear is AllPro expedition leaf pack, extended billies, extended brake lines, and the AllPro U bolt flip kit.

This pic is before i got the U bolt flip kit.

I don't race my truck. In fact, I probably drive more like a granny. I never took my truck over 3k rpm. I'm perfectly happy getting up to speed at a normal pace, and then cruising at around 75 at close to 2k rpm's.

This was all doable until I changed the gears. I think you're right that 4.56's would have been a bit more tolerable. I went with 4.88's after seeing people say they wish they had 5.29's on their trucks, who also had 35's with a 2.7l.

I never had to stomp the gas, or race it to go up hills with stock gears, just downshift. Didn't bother me, but like I said, I do drive kinda like a grandma.

And yes, 35's are Awesome! My absolute favorite mod! Chopping the cab mount, cutting the plastic, and beating the pinch weld is much easier then most realize.

My girl left the camera at work so let me see what I can grab off my phone. Won't do it justice but you'll get the jest. Also, I mistyped earlier. Everything is correct except I'm rocking 18" wheels.
