Maybe I'm missing something but, it seems many folks hate 3rd gen Tacomas. For instance many dislike the auto tranny because it shifts too much. Lol. Isn't an auto suppose to shift??? Then I hear the engine sucks power wise, it could be I was use to Chrysler Jeeps lackluster performance because my 18 feels like a rocket compared to my last Jeep. Even with 4.88s and 33s on the JKU my Toyota would leave it in the dust with ease. Then I hear the interior is dated. No go look at a JK that was dated especially for the money spent. Lastly I hear the pro is overpriced. Go look at a JLUR were everything is extra. In fact to build one close to my pro as equipped would run me about 9 to 10k more. Enough with me ranting.

lol prepare to get roasted OP. Seems a lot of people (for whatever reason) simply have unrealistic expectations from the 3rd gen. As if it was a brand new truck with no previous models or something like that.. :bananadead:

Thanks good to know. I like them all. My brother and dad both have second gens with no complaints. I'm sure there's a dud every now and then but just from what I've seen it's hard to beat a Toyota.

I agree. Just reading some of the stuff that I've seen you could have swore Toyota made terrible vehicles nowadays lol. I love Jeep and probably always will however it didn't take me long to realize the quality difference between the two.

Toyota has had it’s share of issues, but they stand behind their vehicles. They bought my 2000 Tacoma back because of frame rot. I paid 13k for the truck and drove it for 7 years and they bought it back for $11,750.

Welcome, there are plenty here who love their 3rd gen, the ones with unrealistic expectations and constant need to complain are just more vocal/active. Enjoy your new truck!

The Rubicon that I liked was 59000 and some change. The best they would even do was 58000. They acted like they were doing me a huge favor lol. I'm glad that I didn't get it though.

Just not sure how you can compare a JLUR to a TRD Pro. The JLUR has so many more features than a TRD Pro and you can buy a base 2018 JLUR for $43k otd.

Also. One's a truck and the others an suv.

The JLUR has front/rear lockers, electronic sway bar disco, fits 35's with no lift and 37's with a 2" lift.
Dana 44 wides front and rear.
Removable doors, removable top, spacious interior.
285/260 3.6 pentastar with more than enough proven power with the 8 spd.

In base form, the Rubicon will out wheel a TRD Pro. But you're comparing apples to oranges.

    Base priced.
    Optioned.
A TRD Pro can't even come close Base compare to a JLUR, let alone with a few slight options.

You had to be looking at the hard top with the one touch sky roof. A buddy of mine bought one and it only topped out at $57k otd.
