    Hey all,

Did some searching around the forum failing to find a solution so I thought I'd ask here.

Installed MESO's puddle lights today, as stated in the instructions, I tested the connections first to make sure the lights worked and of course they did with no issue.

Disconnected everything, disconnected the battery, waited a bit for the extra juice to go away, then began my install.

Install went smooth, no issues to note. Started with driver-side then worked to passenger.

Everything was buttoned up, reconnected the battery, started the truck. Heard a pop, the classic fuse popping sound, attempted to turn the truck off, but it would not turn off.

Smoke started to come out of the driver-side fuse box area, so I disconnected the battery and tried holding, spamming, and slamming my push-to-start button to attempt to turn the truck off.

Eventually after a few seconds the truck powered off so I could assess the damage.

ECU IG2, IG1 2, AND ECUACC fuses were blown.

Reconnected the battery with new fuses. Fuses stayed alive, but now the truck will not turn off out of accessory or ignition mode.

I didn't cross any wires, everything seems to be together, disconnected the puddle lights, and just can't seem to figure out the issue. I fear it's the BCM or ECU module somewhere but I can't confirm.

Has anyone had this issue before? Where should I continue after fuses and relays?

I already reached out to MESO a little bit ago via support so it seems redundant to tag him but: @MESO .

    Thanks in advance!

Another guy in the meso puddle pod thread had a similar issue after installing it. His issue was the wire was pinched to one of the 3 bolts that held the side mirrors in behind the door panel.

Yeah I would pop open those sail panels on the doors, remove the mirrors, and make sure there isn't a pinched wire. Meso helped someone out earlier who had an issue blowing a fuse and that was the problem.

Hey all. Been back and forth with MESO support, they were quick to respond to try to troubleshoot.

I couldn't localize the issue unfortunately so I think my best bet is to put it all back to stock when I get home from work/tomorrow morning. Unfortunately it might have to be towed to prevent something else frying.

I have everything disconnected and unfortunately I'm still running into the same issue. Truck turns on, but won't turn off from accessory/ignition. My rearview mirror also doesn't have power and all sorts of ABS, lane departure, and other associated systems are lighting up the dash.

I'll update as I go along. Tried all the easy stuff, sort of out of options at this point.

Also: nothing is frayed and the wires are all clear from bolts/metal, etc. Like the issue above. Both driver and passenger sides are good to go.

My rear view recently stopped working as well. If it’s not these fuses *, I’ll be curious what the fix is as well. Whoever fixes it, please take good notes!

Yeah all these fuses seem to be OK. The ECU IG2 and the other. Very interesting. Although those were the ones to fry initially.

were you able to inspect all of the wiring for the pods after the issue with blown fuse and smoking?
what about the connector in the A pillar?

I'm going to take it all apart tomorrow to revert to stock and inspect everything. All connectors from what i can see now are in good shape, all look good and the wiring is what you'd expect from MESO, all very solid connections and overall well made harness.

Did you unplug the A pillar harness yet? Seems like that’d be enough to test the stock wiring?

Before I unplugged the truck for the night, the lights were not connected at all and essentially put all wiring to stock with the same issues. I fried something good.

All back to stock today, all wiring and connections look solid. One of the contacts on the male end of the t-harness was a little dirty but didn't seem like something that would cause an issue. Waiting on my tow now.

Don't be worried. A few one off's compared to hundreds of successful installs

Same. I have them in a box but haven't tried to install them yet.

What's interesting to me is that he hooked them up prior to installation and everything worked fine, so that makes me think it isn't the plugs or wiring of the lights but something that happened during the installation.
