Alright so idk if it’s just me, or if that’s just the way it is or if this a way to fix it but…

I love the v5 turn signals because they have the white DRL, however in day light you can’t even tell they’re on. Can that be changed, like can they be brighter? I have puddle pods and the adapter to connect the two together also a 2017

You must have soldered them backwards. One of the wires dims the DRL when you have your headlights on. Does your truck have auto headlights?

Did you end up just leaving it connected the way you had it to have em bright at all times? I’ll be installing mine this weekend and prefer to keep them bright.

I can't recall the source for the dashed wire vs the solid one.

Finally got around to it and not only did I have the wires backwards, hence why it was bright with headlights on but dim with DRL. I then saw posts saying connecting only one pair of the wires together and not both have them stay bright all the time so I just messed with them and they stay bright now. :) Pictures show driver being bright and passenger dim, then both being bright with DRL and headlights on. I connected only the solid black wire to red (I have the puddle pods pigtails)

I believe they're plug in play for the most part. Just depends how you want to plug em. I am still a bit confused on some stuff.

Okay ya'll please pardon me but my reading comprehension skills aren't the best. Seeing if anyone can help me with a question. I bought the MESO V5 Switchbacks recently and want to power the DRL. It came with the headlight harness. Looking through this and a few other threads, it seems that the DRL can come from plugging into the window switch connectors. The turn signals come with a long wire to power the DRL at the headlight, and that seems to make them work as intended. I checked MESOS' website and there's instructions to installing the "3rd Gen Tacoma Switchback Turn signals" which seems to be an older version of the V5. In those instructions it has the DRL wires connecting into the window switch connectors via a t-tap of some sort. Those weren't supplied with the V5s. So my question is, if i tap into the window switch connectors, will the DRL still work as intended or function (stay bright or dim or stay on all the time, etc.) differently? Thank you for any help.

Tapping at the window switch gives you ignition and parking lights. Which means the DRL is "always on with ignition" until parking lights are on at which point the v5's go to "dim" mode. For the v5's, dim (parking light) trumps bright (drl) on the logic board.

The puddle pods already have ignition and parking light and offer a "cleaner" way to feed the v5's via an extra harness meso will give you if you ask for it, which must be spliced in to mate with the v5 pigtail.

For a true DRL-off-the-stalk option you want MESO's harness (for halogen headlights) or my FBC version (for OEM LED headlights, though I also have one for halogen) but that's more work and requires running wire through the door boots which is sort of universally despised because those boots are chock full of wire already.

Dave, have you undated the tap to use the DRL feed and the Low beam feed?

My harnesses match MESO's, they feed DRL and Parking Lights instead of DRL and Low Beams. So, behavior is a match between FBC and MESO and a mismatch with the headlights where DRL stays on with parking lights and goes off with low beams.

I personally consider v5's to be thumbs down because:
    1. Reverse sequential doesn't sync up with the headlights, this is #1 for me
    2. Looks pixelated and dot matrix-y, not cool really, couldn't get over that, both when illuminated and when not, I like a smoother stripe
    3. Cost is exorbitant vs $50 cheapos so paying more for what looks worse (see 1 and 2)
    4. Too much wire bulk in a tight spot where water gets in, not even sealed, don't need 15 different flash options all of which are out of sync anyway
    5. Morimoto facility involved. I pretty much hate anything remotely associated with Morimoto
    6. Excessively annoying installation with wire through the boots for a DRL that I don't really actually want after thinking about it
    7. Took 2 returns to get a working unit, initial production run had dead pixels, lots of finger pointing about who was to blame leading to trust issues, replacements eventually received but not after I spent too much time installing and uninstalling, testing on the bench, packaging for return, receiving, unboxing, re-testing, re-returning...

So, I do the harness to match spec rather than match a potentially more desirable behavior because I'm so thumbs down on this whole product.

Sorry to be the whiney baby poopy pants voice on this one but just sharing my true thoughts.
