Too bad I didn't see all this before I bought the V5's. I'm pretty disappointed, mostly with the same feelings as daveeasa. The fact that these are not in sync is #1 on my list. I currently have halogen headlights, but was planning on going LED. Sounds like they'll still be out of sync? Also was irritated with the lack of a disconnect for the DRL inside the door panel.

Yeah, install is annoying and out of sync really didn’t look good to me. The $50 sequentials just looked better. I have a side by side video somewhere but videos on TW have to be hosted elsewhere and I think you can see it with the oem vs v5 just the same. That and the pixelated look bothered me, I like a clean stripe.

I know this is an old thread, but I got the v5 switchbacks, and installed per meso instructions wired to the door illumination wires. When light selector is in "auto", and it's daytime (headlights off) the signals are in the bright mode, when it's dark out and my headlights come on, the signals are in dim mode. Function is the same if I select "drl off" on light selector or headlights on. I realized that the way it's wired, the drl feature on the signals never turn off. So for example if I'm in my truck with it running at night, and inflip the light selector to "drl off", headlights go off, but the signal drls stay on. Is there a way to wire the signals to match the drls on my factory leds? So when in auto during the day time and my headlights drls are on, the turn signal drls are in bright mode, headlights on the turn signal drls are in dim mode, and when I select drl off on the light selector, the mirror drls are off?

Yes. You will have to wire into the headlight. I believe that is the simplest way.

    No, not the headlights.
    Added relay required.

Body ECU is above the cab fuse box. Connector 1F faces the cab.

So wiring up like this should get me the results I'm looking for? Body ecu is under the dash on the driver side? And the ign fuse that I'm tapping into is in the engine bay, or under the dash?

Under dash. Lots to choose from.

It's a duplicate (parallel circuit) of the OEM DRL circuit, all in-cab, so yeah, simpler.

Can you help me out, I wired up everything exactly as you described, and I'm not getting the functionality that I wanted. No dimming on the mirror drls, and mirror drls don't go off when I select drl off on the light selector. Not sure what I did wrong

I went over everything multiple times, and i wired everything exactly like your picture. I did use a test light and I noticed that I'm not getting power switched over between 87, and 87a when I change the light options on the light selector, so I'm guessing that's why I'm not getting the drls to go from dim to bright... also I'm supposed to connect 86 and 30 together correct?

Yes, same fused source provides power to V5's and relay changeover.

Can you think of any reason why the relay wouldn't be switching over from 87 to 87a?

Bad relay, bad crimp, bad connection to 1F_30...

@808stateofmind, what relay are you using? Does it have a resistor or diode? A diode would be a factor also.

I'm using a micro 5 pin. I tried 2 different relays and the same results with both. I guess I'll have to go back and check all my connections20250117_162810.jpg
