Ground the relay without using 1F_30, verify function.

 

Any fuse that's tied to accessory/ignition power. Many to choose from.

 

Relay will audibly click when properly energized. Troubleshoot that. Probe 86 vs 85 w multimeter.

@caribe makaira i just checked your diagram and yeah, it won’t ever go completely off if ignition is on.

doesn’t explain why it won’t dim but you’re still missing the off part, yeah? Kona isn’t Canada.

@808stateofmind, I’d just connect the white wires directly to parking lights in the doors, easy and done there, no need to over complicate that part. Then use this for the red “bright” to avoid dealing with headlight wires.

 

Yeah, he'd need an additional relay to provide juice to dim feature. Bright would be controlled by tapping DRL control ground (1F_30).

I had originally had the wires tapped into the door illumination circuit in the doors, so i was able to get the mirror light drl lights to go from dim with the headlights on to bright with the headlights off with headlight drls either off or on. What i really want is that exact functionality but a way to turn the mirror drls off. For example if I'm sitting in my truck at night in a parking lot or something, and I turn all the lights off, the mirror drls will stay on, and will be on in the bright setting. Before I tried this method, I was thinking about running a switch so that I could have the bright and dim feature, but also be able to switch them off if I wanted.
And yea kona definitely isn't in Canada lol

 

You’ll be all set if you redo the whites. Stalk off will be dark. Right now it would be dim by caribe’s diagram.

also, in case you didn’t know, Canada requires DRL on (no way to turn off) so caribe’s design would work fine for Canadian Tacomas.

Will I have the ability to turn the mirror drls off with this method, or is it not possible? Is there a way to wire to the headlight wires to get the functionality i want? I know you made harnesses for the halogen lights, but not sure if there is an option with factory leds...

Yes, but at low beam select you'd get dim V5's just like headlights DRL's.
