    Gold!

Alright @OnHartung'sRoad & @wilcam47 I had the good fortune to scratch up a little gold today! Finally... :woot:

Now, don't let this pressure you. Ya' know, when you are out there on the playa tomorrow, looking for meteorites... Nooooo pressure whatsoever. None. Nada.
Don't even think about it. I'm sure that there won't be any disapproving looks if you come back empty handed. Nobody here is gonna judge you... No pressure at all... :D

Congratulations, those look great, now put them back! o_O

They are very rough, almost like specimens - you have to sample more uphill now, you may be on to a very good spot! Need any help? ;)

Thanks! You did really well, hope we do the same but I’m looking forward just to be out there, and with someone who does the same. So how deep were they and what was the soil like? Also, which coil were you using? Curious how well your ML 5000 is running, or was it your Nox?

Well, I was in this spot last weekend running a 7000 and I hit on three targets in one small area. I dug on one of them but could not pinpoint it's location as I have very little time on a 7000. I finally gave up knowing that eventually I would be back in there with a Gold Bug II. By chance, I ended up there today and found the nugget in the top position in the photo. It weighs a quarter of a gram. My buddy was there running his 5000 and said that he has been all over the area with his machine. He waved the nugget over his coil and said he could barely hear it, and would not have dug that signal. A Gold Monster would work very well in this spot. I don't know about the Nox. I have a few dedicated gold machines, so I prolly won't reach for the Nox. Although, I sometimes bring it along so we have options. Next time I have it along I will get it out when we have a target.

BTW: The wildflowers are going off and are amazing!!

    Good luck tomorrow!

To answer your questions: these were less than two inches deep and the soil is very mineralized. The Gold Bug II picks up the mineralization and is noisy.
I did run the 5000 today with a 14"x9" Nugget Finder coil looking for patches, but didn't dig a single target. Did not matter though, the scenery, wildflowers, and fresh air were more than satisfying!

Well if you ever want to try a Gold Monster over there... it needs to find some oro one if these days, and tomorrow it gets to prove itself with meteorites perhaps. It will be interesting using it to hunt for irons, that’s something new!
