The Garrett AT Pro is a very good machine for coin/jewelry/treasure hunting and is a great entry price for getting into the hobby. Pick up a few accessories like a pinpointer, a digging tool, and maybe a carry bag, and you'll be in business for under $1,000.

Hobbs is right. There is a pretty big backorder log jam on Minelab machines right now because Malaysia isn’t manufacturing at the moment. The used prices on their newer items on Fleabay are over 25% over retail!

Check with Nuggetshooter and Rob’s Detectors for some sales going on right now with their Garrett detectors, some package deals include pinpointers (definately a good tool) and other stuff...

And don’t just order online, call them in person because they like to deal if you commit to buying.

Well I have one more question. They have detectors specific to gold and they have others that say metal, coin and jewelry. Dads rings were gold, but the AT Pro should be able to pick that up, correct?

    Hey all.
First time out this year and did a quick hunt at one of the local beaches.
Besides the normal coffee money , I scored this with the Ace 400.......:bananadance:

    Indeed, a pleasant surprise.

The AT Pro will absolutely "see" a gold ring! Especially a men's ring or class ring, being that they are heavier and have more mass.

So maybe this is off topic for the thread since it doesn't involve metal detecting (which still hasn't produced anything of interest for me, other than helping me find more of my spent brass).

Anyway last weekend I visited the Hauser Geode Beds off the Bradshaw Trail and dug up some pretty awesome looking rocks. Not any proper geodes, but lots of rock chunks with colorful crystal lined voids. It was 100 degrees so I only dug for a few minutes. Can't wait to try cutting and polishing some of these, and maybe someday to come back during a more reasonable season.

Nothing like a cold beer on a hot day while swinging! Its an art I have been practicing for a few years now. Detector in one hand, shovel in the other, beer switched in between left hand / right hand / finds pouch.... I need one of those beer helmets, as if people didn't already look at me weird enough while Im detecting
