Cool, I love that place! Those look like they may be thundereggs- geodes that have filled in. Whenever digging these up, mark the outside with a vertical line before you pull them out of their matrix, that way you cut them on their vertical axis to maximize the layering effect as the layers are horizontal (unless there was uplifting and tilting of their formation after they formed).

Made my Homer bucket trommel today, total cost was about $60. It went together pretty well, and seems like it will be a useful addition to my drywasher. No pics yet- coming soon this weekend when I try it out for reals in the Dale gold district... I’ll be swinging for good spots and lugging buckets o’ paydirt. Can’t wait!:bananadance:

You got my hopes up but I'm afraid there's not much to see in uv fluorescence either.

    20200601_225049.jpg

A few of them have bits of green fluorescence, and one has a bright orange region as well. But overall they are mostly just regular rocks that I found in the desert yesterday, which is all I had hoped for in the first place.

Can't wait to put them in the yard and eventually hit them with my lawnmower.

Meanwhile, here is another specimen I found with the black light:

Update: the scorpion is a stupid ass hole, with no appreciation for photography or private property.

What I meant by that is that the scorpion escaped into my garage, despite my very specific instructions to the contrary, before I could even take a proper photo. Sorry for the off topic comment.

I can’t give Steve Herschbach enough credit for all the work he has done on his detectorprospector.com website. One of my favorite parts of it has been his guides section. It has a lot of detecting information (gold and artifacts/jewelry and coins) as well as prospecting references that have really helped me, plus they are really interesting to read:

    https://www.detectorprospector.com/magazine/steves-guides/steves-guides/

Edit: also check his library out:

What is that footnote on your posts, a required PSA from the probation department?
