Anyone else planning to go on a detecting getaway this week? We’re going camping for a few days to look for geodes out at Hauser Geode Beds out near Blythe, CA, and out towards some agate and jasper collecting areas closer to Indio. Some of the locations at the second place have good potential for gold detecting, but with my luck its going to be little pieces of lead that once flew through the air... at least I get to swing a bit. Really want to go- all work and no play has made me a rather dull boy!o_O

I need to get out also. I just came off a six day work week which is unusual. One day off and back to work.

I need to get dialed on the Equinox. I have been watching vid's, but nothing replaces hands-on experience.

What size/shapes of obsidian do you use for making points? I come across obsidian regularly.

These arent big pieces maybe about size of fist. The smaller "bird" points are flakes off the bigger chunks

Just got back tonight, awful fun out there, got to go geode hunting, off-trail riding that pushed Mulita further than ever before, even had to use the crawl control for the first time and the dang thing actually works surprisingly well, and went out hunting for agate and petrified wood pebbles out near Blythe, it was fun. Glad you all are well, hope to get out there swinging soon with you all!

We also went to an ancient pebble plain that contained miles of polished and deposited pebbles from the Colorado River. We found jasper and agate, and many other types of pebbles that flowed down the Colorado over thousands of years. I also found a petrified wood pebble and also one that looks like Jupiter. We also collected limonite cubes in the nearby hills, iron pyrite that turned black in time
