My largest coil now is the stock 11” DD that came with my Nox 800, One of these days I’m gonna have to meet up with you at the beach and get some training for that kind of detecting.

I’m thinking of retiring soon and moving on to full-time detecting on the beach, won’t that be great? It could never be like this, right? https://vimeo.com/223391336

The "black sand" is murder with the VLF's is the only thing that sucks. I mean, if your heater has manual ground balance then you have a decent chance, but mine are automatic if you will. My only chance is reducing the sens.

The only thing with dry sand hunting is if you're not used to it, your hips start to hurt after a while. Other than that, there's no cutting plugs or "hard retrieval".

HAHAHA, I saw my Chuck E Cheese coin "collection" today and I should have taken a picture of them.

But yeah, we should plan that for sure.:fistbump:

yeah I haven’t really detected in areas with heavy black sand, So I wonder how well that equinox will work for it. I’m still learning how to use the thing in the desert. We’re hoping to take the trailer down to the beach more this summer, so I need to figure something out that will work down there. I know PIs are good for it, but I don’t want to spend that much money now with my current financial plans, so I have to try to work with what I have.

Pretty funny huh? I wonder how compass detectors work with full salt water immersion. It’s also funny how that guy swings his coil, I looked like that when I first started out too.

Yeah, that's why I decided to get a PI, but I want to get a smaller lighter coil for it.

I've noticed my swings tend to be too wide? I might as well "hula hoop" my metal detector?:goingcrazy::facepalm::laughing::laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Oh and if you don't already know or are not aware of "how to"... the biggest tip I can think of to tell someone about dry sand hunting at the beach is the "towel line".

Just in front of the guard towers (if any), in between them (NOTE: and sometimes around them as well), and just behind them... see the picture below...

Probably usedul to look for the cigarette butt line at the beach too, but there’s a lot less smokers these days! I remember how gross that used to be when it was littered with those, My plastic sand scoops and sandcastles would have them inside. Yuck!

HAHAHAHAHA, just recently a few months back... MIND YOU this is during COVID meaning well before the vaccine and cases were at an all time high... I was heading into work and it was still dark out (in the morning) and I see a pretty blue light? I thought it was a flash light. I just scooped it up because I just happen to be running late that day and I hate being late, which I never am, but still don't like the thought of being late.

Anyways, I grab the blue colored lighted object and zoom off to work. I work all day and then clock out eagerly waiting to check out my new "flash light".

So I'm looking at this thing and I'm wondering how the hell do you turn it OFF??? :confused:o_O

I then finally saw what looked to be scorch marks on one end??? Or at least that's what it looked like? In either case, I finally came to realize that it was a Vaping Pen!!!:goingcrazy::facepalm::boom::bananadead: I gave myself 2x weeks to live!!! :crapstorm::pray::laughing::laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: I'm still here!!! :rasta:

My companies ISO auditing is coming up within a week and dept mgrs have been making sure things are in place, "tagged properly", etc etc etc.

Well, I made sure to properly tag my stuff on my bench just in case the auditor doesn't know what a typical radio looks like??? :notsure:

So this was fun... Took my son on a overnighter last Friday.... with his little Nat Geo metal detector.. he found what I think was like a dry wall saw blade..pretty old and rusted out.
OH... and next to it was an old burned out area.... and bones.... and what looked like human hair....

    Yeah.

So I was supposed to meetup with a friend of mine @Fuerte, but for whatever reason we had "passed by" each other somehow?

The day started off rough though because "a wrench was thrown in the cog".

Anyways, next time it should go a bit more smoothly.

So on my way home I stop by a park that is near me, the power line park, if you will and here are my findings in about 45min hunting two "tot-lots".

Technically if you think about it, I was finding a "penny/min"!!! :D:p:laughing::laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:
