Main reason I wanted a detector... fulfilled tonight. Found a broadhead I shot into a deer this past October... tonight. $10 saved, cuz the broadhead
was in great shape, no rust or dings. Yessssss. :bananadance:

Let alone it provides me with fun when the family is just sitting around on the beach (boring).

Yes sir and VERY HAPPY!!!:fistbump::drunk:

Have had her for just about 1x month so far.

It was pissing me off because friends/family were telling me to just get a "new truck" and/or newer. Deep down, I'm a real "car guy" and by me not getting rid of her for a "new trick" (i.e. "woman"), and my commitment to shell out the :spending: to get her fixed, says that I truly love my beautiful girl!!!

    So HAPPY BRO!!! :oops::drunk:

Engine had bottom end issues. It's an extremely long story, but it had a head job done to it and the shop that redid the head basically screwed my engine to the point of "low oil pressure" unbeknownst to me until it started to shake, rattle, and roll. By then, the damage was already done.

Like I said, a very long story, but that is the short of it.

The "fix" was to redo the head, crank, pistons, balance shaft "delete" since my balance shaft bearings were shot, harmonic balancer, and new pistons. Pretty much my whole engine was rebuilt. I didn't want an already rebuilt engine because I don't like the idea of putting a "black box" in my truck. In other words, I don't know the history of the block other than it's a rebuilt. My block, I knew the history and whatever was really done with it, if that makes any sense.

My crank isn't really a new crank as I should put it more as they had rebuilt my original crank and it is balanced for lo/hi RPM's. So my crank is "MY" crank, but modded, if you will, to compensate for the balance shaft delete.

I feel no vibrations like most would feel if they did the balance shaft delete. Vibrations from the engine is the most common complaint when the balance shaft delete mod is done.

@wilcam47 btw, I took it to a supposedly reputable shop, so it wasn't like I took it to some cheap back alley shop. I was told they're expensive and figured the typical saying, "well, you get what you pay for..." So that is why I didn't mind if it costed me a little more.

Well, it definitely costed me for sure. Even the timing marks were off and the cam caps were on too tight, plus the shop that redid the screw up found out that the other shop didn't even put new shims in or valve seats for the head.

Anyways, here are some pictures of my, pretty much destroyed engine. Mind you, my heart was broken... It's a 3RZ-FE

    IMG_20220124_164241476.jpg

The timing marks... from the shop that screwed up my truck... It's kind of hard to tell in the pictures, but it was pretty obvious in person. The harmonic balancer was bad as well and it's even suspected that the wrong one was put back in??? The guy didn't even follow his own timing marks.

So if anybody is in/around the Huntington Beach, CA area... I humbly say to you, DO NOT take your vehicle to "Gustafson's Brothers Automotive"!!! If you do, then you were warned and I couldn't have been more civilized about the whole situation as well so it wasn't like I was some douche bag from the start. They just screwed up BAD and don't want to admit to it.

The shop that redid their work wants me to report them to the B.A.R. because that's how bad it was.

    Finally, my "newly rebuilt engine"...

"Ken's Automotive" in Huntington Beach, CA is AWESOME!!! The guy is brutally honest and always wants to do the right thing!!! He initially didn't want to do the work because it was painfully obvious to him what was going to happen with how much work and cost, but I told him over and over that I just want my truck back up and running!!! So far, the truck is running VERY WELL!!!

first find.jpg First find. Only had a few chances to use my Metal Detector, mostly on the local beaches and was really shocked to see how much trash there is, rusty nails, aluminum foil, pop top tabs, even a couple of sharp tent stakes, - all of which I gave to the lifeguard, who was also shocked and extremely grateful. Anyway, after finding so much trash, I was happy to find something notable. Although just costume jewelry (a S.D. Chargers lightning bolt earring), something about your first find is exciting. I was also surprised at the depth, a foot deep. Does anyone else keep their first finds?

    Very sweet find!!! :fistbump:

Yes, it amazes me there are not many foot injuries given the amount of tent stakes I have found over the years and the dumbass people somehow thinking tent stakes are going to work in soft sand???:smack:
