Btw, @wilcam47 and @samiam it's ALWAYS nice to have different coils, for example, a "sniper coil" for "trashy areas".

Also, when I hunt parks and such, I like to have a towel with me... roughly the size of a hand towel.

What I use the towel for is:
-place the towel next to where I plan on cutting my plug
-cut my plug after centering in on the object in question
-flap the plug up and over
-place whatever excess dirt/soil I am removing from the hole while looking for my find
-after recovery, pick up the towel with dirt/soil and place back into the hole
-flap the plug back over the hole
-stand up and stomp the livin' SHI* out of the plug to pack it back down

sometimes, I will take my hand and "refluff" the grass to try to make it look like there was never any activity in that spot.

@samiam Also, silver will typically sound off as a VERY SOLID "dime signal"!!! Okay.:fistbump:

    HH \_

Btw, wrap your coil cable around the shaft fairly tightly. NOT TOO TIGHT!!! But you don't want too much slack in your cabling!!! Try not to "pull" on the cable or severely kink it also. You want to leave enough slack in the cable so it has freedom of movement, but won't possibly give off false signals because your coil may actually pick up on the cable itself.

You're a good man, that's the way to cut a plug clean. Some folks don't and it reflects on all of us.

Thanks!!! I try to do my best to leave it as I found it. Sometimes if the ground is pretty dry, it gets pretty hard to deal with making it look good. On occasion I will have my canteen of water and use it for the dry dirt situations, but it still doesn't realistically work very well, because I'll run out of water after about 4-5x plugs later. :notsure:

    Anyways...

Well, I plan on dry sand hunting some time next week. I finally got my 250 out of storage today and most of my gear.

I'll be posting pics some time next week. HAHAHAHA, I hope I find some really good "droppings"!!!

Doing a "gear and equipment check" tonight. I plan on swinging Tuesday after work as tomorrow I have some errands to do.

Anyways, I will be posting some pics... garbage or not...
    MDgear_p1.jpg

I've had my GTi-2500 for a number of years now, but haven't been able to use it as much as I've been wanting to. There are a few parks I want to hit with this md'r, but likely will be a couple weeks or more. It's definitely a bit heavier than the 250 and it's been about 1.5-2yrs since I've really done any significant swinging. HAHAHAHA, my legs and arm are gonna be sore. :goingcrazy::bananadead::muscleflexing:
    Garrett_GTi2500_p1.jpg

    Garrett_GTi2500_p2.jpg

Btw, the cables are "loose" in the pictures because the tubes aren't extended outward.

Again, you want the cable to be "snug", but NOT overly tight or pulling of the wire/cable at the housing.

Thanks for the good luck!!!:fistbump:

Yeah, junk or not, I'll be doing that for sure.

I'll be dry sand hunting Tuesday after I get out of work. I typically find right around $3, average, worth of quarters, nickels, dimes, and pennies within about a 3hr hunt. It was consistently averaging a $1/hr... HAHAHAHA, almost on the daily. BUT, that was typically a summer time outting. The good thing is is that I was about the only person that was ever dry sand hunting and I've gone both early morning, noon, late evening on various/random days and would almost never see anyone else swinging a coil. You would think being that random I would see someone, but it was pretty damn rare. I DO know of a person that swings on the beach further south, but he surf hunts, which I started doing with my Infinium LS, but MAN, it is definitely technique recovering a find. :goingcrazy: Btw, I LOST whatever it was that I was trying to recover and it was only right around ankle/knee deep surf hunting!!!:annoyed::frusty:
