I've had the itch, still not finding time to scratch. I am working next weekend but I'll be roving in my truck most of the time so it'll give me a chance to plot out the areas most likely to have some successful hunts.

I'll hit the beaches first to get the feel for the machine. My town has 5 of them, biggest is the one pictured. Theres also about 4 volleyball nets not seen . Theres also a freshwater lake near my house with a beach and water thing for kids.
I'll have to see if i can go there or not without going to Detectors Jail.

As time goes on, hopefully I can find some inland properties. This part of New England is stone wall central.
    Walls and cellar holes everywhere.:fingerscrossed:

I have no disillusions of finding anything of value unless it's a bunch of change or a little gold here or there (not that I wouldn't mind) because I think most of the areas I'll go to aren't very historical. I do think I'll find the change, but more likely car keys, boat keys, fishing tackle, a knife here and there and probably a whole slew of bottle caps and buried beer cans. But hopefully it'll get me the experience with the machine and just get out more. I'm hoping all this overtime drops off and I can get away more often. I do plan to hit the camping areas pretty hard at the end of this coming season just to see what's there and what people tend to lose while they're there.

One of the reasons I want to eventually go inland is my town was settled in 1639.
    Lots of old stuff around.

That would be pretty cool. This whole area down here was part of the Desert Training Area from WWII so there's always the possibility of finding cool stuff from that. But I need to talk with our archaeologist first so I don't end up fired or in jail.

Where were you able to hunt?

Don't get to discouraged. Finding those is all part of the hunting.:fistbump:

I went out by one of the local day use areas with a canoe launch. I'm not discouraged. Just learning the different tones and adjustments. It was still a little warm when we got out there and the little guy we had with us has seizures if he gets over heated so we had that going. But he got to be out for a while and throw rocks in the water while I got in some time so it all worked. Eventually I'll get into some good ground and have the hunting gear.

    Well that was quick.
Ordered machine Friday night and got it today! :bananadance:

Put it together, fooled with the settings and did a small sweep in the yard.
Dug up a piece of aluminum gutter and a piece of copper chimney flashing, lol.
The included with package pinpointer works as well.

It a LOUD machine without using the headphones. (wish it had volume control)
    I'll figure something out.
If I have time this weekend, I'll hit the beach.

There's still a bit down here though I'm thinking a lot of flakes and smaller stuff. We get some snowbirds that come down with their dry rigs. Every now and then they'll show me a little vile with some color in it. Most usually get enough to cover the fuel from here to back home with their motorhomes from what I hear. But I think they're keeping it pretty close to the vest. There are what they call a hobby or club claims and they'll go out and dig catholes and run it through their dry shakers. Some are pretty loose with the info while others wouldn't say shit if they had a mouth full. I don't see many metal detectors though.

There's a ton of places I'd like to swing a loop in Arizona. Nevada I think is my favorite place to go. All the nuggets I posted are only from two day trips in an area in California.
