I use a DFX Spectrum E Series. Still one of the best relic hunting detectors. And since the lithium ion battery it runs forever. I'll post some pics when I get a chance. We hunt 1850s Gold Rush Sites. Tokens. Belt Buckles. Coins. And to source a bottle dig.

I think we need you to setup a GB, for metal detectors... something good.

Don't get that one! It's the bounty Hunter. They are ok for nails and iron not that good for gold and silver.
I would say get a Garrett a e 250 to start or if your feeling bold and AT pro is good. I have seven detectors and it's really how well you can learn it.

I grew up in Ukiah, highschool in Ft. Bragg, worked all the way over to Sutter and down to Marin County and north up to Red Bluff and back over to Hwy 101. Still a lot of treasure left.

    OK,here we go.
First hunting trip at one of the smaller beaches at first light.
Sooo much junk. About 25 bottle caps and pull tabs. A crushed aluminum can way down gave me trouble.:frusty:
Got to play with the machine and set notches. Iron audio made it sound like a pinball machine.
Anywho... A little bit of plunder on a beautiful morning.

(stainless washer is the one with a hole. I thought it was one of those funny furrin coins, lol)

I hate moving with a passion. If I ever have to move again I'm just going to set this place on fire and start over somewhere else.

Coming from a military background as I see your "badge" in your sig, I can understand why!!! LMAO!!!:laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl: My dad was in the military, but by the time "I" was born he was just about retired... 21yrs. My older brother and older sister were "fortunate" enough to experience moving all over the place!!!:rofl::rofl:

Btw, thank you for your service brotha!!!:fistbump::oldglory:

Thanks. 10 years Army, 10.5 Air Force. Retired in 09. Life was a lot more simple when everything fit in a duffle bag and a brief case.

I hit a local spot in town. There's an old cellar hole, but it was used as a dump in the last 60 years and is filled with junk. A lot of junk.
About 100 yards away ,along a stone wall, I got some targets. All brass hardware to some furniture and some horse tack with some leather still intact.
Roosevelt dime from '99 on the way out.
How it got 8 inches down in the woods is an unanswered question.:notsure:

    Nice finds.

It is odd how newer coins can be so deep. I've dug coins that are less than 20 years old at 6" deep, and not even 5' away dig up a 100 year old coin near the surface.

My turn to contribute to this thread now, but after I get better.

Still gonna hit that park that I have in mind and I will sweep near the big trees that are there. If I remember right, there is a baseball field there as well? I haven't driven by it for some time so I don't remember exactly.

Anyways, I'll post what I find...

Interesting finds. Reading your final "report", I was thinking the same thing in wondering how something newer is out, more or less, in the middle of nowhere relative to older stuff and being that deep???:notsure: HAHAHAHAHAHA evidence of "time travelers"... too much damn YouT ube conspiracy watching krap that I do!!!:laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl::facepalm:

I'm still waiting for summer to go away. Our soil dries into a brick and needs a few weeks of rain to start softening it up to be able to dig properly. Hopefully by mid November my buddy and I will be dirt fishing again.
