I had some 20x102mm caliber rounds from a phalanx gun test site that a really dumb security guard picked up and left in the back of our work truck, I could have traded those with you. Although on second thought, mailing them would have been a problem...

They also had some armor piercing bullets with shells from another cannon laying around with little extra heavy bullet tips, but the UXO guys wouldn’t share them with us and kept them all :pout:something about them being “DU”.

    (Depleted uranium).

So what’s with the .50 cal bullets, military?

They were used/shot at an old army training range, which now a city park is in the area of where the bullets fell or were

Any guesses? Hint: not dangerous as is... As for safe- I also know what they came from, otherwise would never have touched them if I didn’t!

If accelerated fast enough, it certainly could be a tank killer - those are tungsten carbide tips. They are actually the teeth from a big tracked 3-foot diameter rotary drill for pile drilling. They are similar to teeth from a tunnel boring machine.

Had I seen these laying around without knowing what they were, I would have backed off and called it in- they’re impressive looking.

For drilling big holes in rock right? OK I used the wrong term!:rofl:I stood around and watched them do it and took pictures of bighorn sheep, that was my job -watching for big horn sheep so the construction trucks wouldn’t auger them.

What was your job with these guys?

Yes, drilling through rock. We also have a miner (coal) we use in tunnels.

I didn’t know you did that, what is your position with them? You mentioned maintenance- so are you the guys that drive up to the trucks after hours to do the tuneup’s and oil and all that?
