Yeah the open park is easier now. It just depends what park im at. One is just junk towards the ball fields. I also dont know how hard theyve been detected. I am finding coins but nothing beyond 65 so far... also interesting is couple dimes were 3-4inches deep and mid 90's aged coin. The soil here is real acidic as the dimes and quarters are virtually copper

@wilcam47 - There’s a layer of history in every old town. Try finding a Sanborn map or go to the library (when possible) or online and look at old photos of the town and try to line up where the old buildings were to existing open space..

Yep. There is a method to the madness. Try finding an annexation map of Kingman (or other town/city). It will show you the how, when, and where the town grew over time.

I'm not dialed in with it yet. Found a modern quarter at 8"-9". That's prolly my deepest.

    EDIT: most moderns at 1"-4".

4-5" deepest mostly, i do pick up stuff deeper. But so far its been junk. I do notice a big difference when just at the top layer. It pings nice and clear
Dimes and nickels are a bit harder to line up on. Yesterday i dug a good grass plug and at the bottom of it was the penny i was looking for...lol it wasnt very old but still fun to see its on point

I don’t like using headphones either, luckily Im not around people within miles ‘cept my family or alone when doing it so I have its volume cranked up too. Some use a mono headphone, but it still does not allow you to hear what is happening around you with only one ear and from which direction... I like hearing the birds and other sounds around me while doing it... more relaxing that way, which really is why I like detecting in the first place.

I found a nice chunk of obsidian at swap meet sale for $3, i knocked off a chip with river rock. Just need a different tool to finish it. Just the one piece was beyond razor sharp but just needs shaped
