Probably the most informative post here regarding this issue.

Sucks of course, but you figure something like this would have been caught by Toyota quality control.

I have been happy with my MGM until I see this post. Then I start to panic thinking I might have mismatched paint and something like that will bother me every time I walk out to the truck. This am I spent 30 minutes waking around and maneuvering the truck in all different positions and lighting. I'm happy to say mine serms to match. If it hadn't matched, I would have been happier not knowing. I love all the knowledge gained from this board but there are downsides as well.

Ok, update!!!!! Just talked to my local dealer and the guy who is working on my truck agree the color mis-match and open a case with toyota... He couldnt find any signs or marks the truck was damage, he did told me to get hold of the dealer where I bought soo they can investigated better. They are going to have me bring it back once the Toyota regional resp. comes to looked at it and see what he/her decition on how to handle this issue.... Also, the hood was coming apart from the hood frame and they are sending it to a shop to reglued it, any suggestions on what to look when I get back the truck. And thanks to all of you guys pitching in with this problem.... Im glad Im not alone that had this problem, it sucks but I got a lot of knowledge out of this experience...

I saw this on multiple MGM's before I bought my '16. I actually had an MGM on order but changed it to black after noticing all the MGM inconsistencies. I don't know if black was the correct color either (PITA to keep clean), but that's another story.

Agree. And it seems from a few other pics it varies light to dark from front to back but only on the door breaks; i.e. door panel 1 is light and door panel 2 is darker. Almost as though the whole truck wasn't painted at the same point in time..different door lots painted up in queue, assy line grabbing them and putting them on? I dunno but its definitely visible door to door.

Strange. I'd complain were it my truck but they'd have to paint the entire truck. Low percentage shot but nothing to lose. That unique color would be tough to blend (obviously).

    Love that color too...very cool.

I had a 2014 Silver sky metallic that was two different colors. I never really noticed until I had some body work done on one side of the bed that was a spot about the size of a baseball. I was ready to take it back to the body shop and noticed the other side of the bed was the same. Turns out the guy matched the bed perfectly. Then I looked at pictures taken the day after I took delivery and it stood out like a sore thumb. Funny how I never really noticed it but afterwards it was a glaring issue. I never was able to look at the the truck and not notice it. Looking at pictures of '16 SSM trucks here I can see a difference in some but my '16 is almost perfect.

Can you elaborate on "the hood was coming apart from the hood frame"? So, they are going to reglue the hood? The hood is steel, I guess I'm missing something here.

Wanted a new Tacoma. Joined TacomaWorld forum. No longer want a new Tacoma. lol

Good God this truck has issues. There's no way I'd lay down 35 to 40 K on one of these things. I'd take an AWD RAV4 before I bought one of these. Best of luck to all of you out there having issues.

You have to remember that most people on the Internet seem to be inclined to report on their (truck, car, motorcycle, lawn mower, snow blower, etc) only when there are problems. It's rare that people put a lot of praise online.

The signal to noise ratio here is obviously low --- and I'm not discounting the legitimate issues people post about --- but think about how many 10s of 1000s of Tacoma owners aren't here posting about problems.

Maybe so, but I know how my luck is. I'd end up with the truck that had half a quart of fluid in the transmission, squeaked like an old spring mattress over every bump, had a rear differential that leaked like a soda fountain and occasionally just decided that functioning brakes are optional. lol

We will never know what the percentages are that do and don't have problems...but for sure there are many that have no issues that are not on here talking, that said there many that have issues that don't discuss here also.I believe most trucks are issue free, some have issues that owners just accept and there are those that have issues that need to be heard and resolved by TMC. I am still amazed by some of the posts regarding dealers that are not aware of or possibly blowing off real issues.Toyota needs to get dealers on the same page. How a dealer responds to issues can be a make or break deal with people buying a vehicle.
