MGM overland build

Not unusual but this one is my interpretation of how I like to overland. My background includes building 3 Land Rovers (2 D1’s and 1 LR3) after pushing all 3 past 200k and working my ass off to keep them running I decided to buy a new 2022 Tacoma TRDOR to give me a bit more free time and hopefully have some reliability!

So far I have installed Escape Gear seat covers:



I have also installed a tailgate pop & lock, spare wheel lock, VLED interior LED light kit and weather tech floor liners front and back.

For this upcoming weekend I will be installing OEM LED headlights (didn’t want to wait to get a truck with that package) and a anytime front camera to see those rocks over our cliff of a hood!

On order are Alucab contour canopy to hold my Gen 3 tent, alucab cubby, alu cab table and bracket for the canopy, alu cab XL fridge slide for my snomaster 72 classic, ammo box slide for my wolf packs and a goose gear bed plate to secure gear, water tank and the fridge freezer. I also have Baja designs LED Amber sport fog lights on the way. Future purchases are RCI sliders, diff skid plate with cat guards as well as other armor as I see fit. It came with the TRD front skid plate. I will be getting wheels and tires this spring.
As I Install equipment and transfer gear from my old rig to the new Tacoma I will update and keep everyone in the loop.

Thanks Brandon. Please Call me Brad. I am looking into ditch lights as well. Will probably keep with Baja for additional lighting down the road as well. Have been researching multiple brands and want something that will last 15 plus years. This is the first stage of this build. Lift and other goodies will be next year.

Installed OEM LED headlights, Baja Design sport Amber and an Anytime front camera.

I love the combination of OEM LED with the BD sport Amber. The FBC harness made the headlights very easy to install. I know I’m joining a chorus here but as a technician they truly are top quality. Adding the clips for the inevitable breakage when removing the front edge of the flare is excellent forethought.

Couple issues I have with the Anytime camera setup. One of the female RCA cables had a bunch of yellow plastic jammed inside which I spent some time clearing and as a result the connection wound up very tight but functional. The camera seems like it is off center even though it is pointed directly forward. Like the camera was installed incorrectly in the housing when manufactured. I will post a picture later of what I am talking about. Probably wouldn’t bother me if I get rid of the grid lines which make it more obvious.

Me deepest thanks to those who set up the RCI group buy. I bought full skids minus the front as I have the TRD plus sliders. Now comes the waiting game for that as well.

 

New pic. With my friends help we got all the RCI Skids installed as well as the sliders. Coming up next is the EE accessory mount and the ZPrecision cup holder.

 

Long overdue for an update to this build. as promised EE mount and ZPrecision cup holder.

 

Next was the Desert Does it under seat mount and ARB twin compressor.
I really should do a full install write up for this.

 

Road trip to LA to see the guys at Tiny Rig and have my canopy installed. Could have done this at home but rather than pay shipping decided to road trip it out and enjoy a winter break from Colorado.
Also had some sweet rigs being worked on there! If you like full sizers!

Accessories from goose gear and alucab! Goose gear deck plate. Alu-cab XL fridge slide for my behemoth snomaster. Large cupboard, ammo box slide, camp table and mount all installed!

 

Ammo slide and table with mounts are so functional and great use of space. Nice build man. I like that under seat ARB setup.
