Makes sense. Trying to balance weight and strength. Especially if you're after more of a desert truck. I don't/or have never tried Tig welding so I can't speak from experience.

What are you looking to do as a perm rear setup?

Yeah, plus you spend so much $ trying to make more power, don’t want to counteract the gains with extra weight that isn’t needed. It’s really not worth it if you’re paying someone to do the work, because generally lighter parts are usually far more labor intensive, but if you have free time and are building your own parts it’s a fun way to force yourself to think outside the box.

I ended up selling most of link parts and changed things up a little. Im gonna short course link the truck and run 3.0x18” king ibp’s. Just scooped up a solo 45 gallon fuel
Cell a few weeks back. Once I have my home shop up and running I’ll tear my truck apart

One of my goals for the current rear setup is to get everything tuned once my bypasses arrive and see how far I can push the oem mounting point sua kit. I really haven’t seen too many spend the time with a shock tuner trying to see how much performance you can squeeze out of it.

How much travel can you get with a SUA vs SOA?

It really depends. Generally with sua you can get around a max of 17” ( I know a few kits list higher numbers, but their pack usually get leaf separation around 17”) generally I’d say somewhere between 12-14” for a soa setup. But travel numbers don’t really mean a ton. Where sua shines is the extra 3 or so inches of gained bump travel. That makes all the difference in the world between the two setups

Sounds like a good plan. Shock tuning is often overlooked and not nearly enough time is spent making a shock work as well as it could. Especially when discussing the bypass market. I'm no tuning expert but I do like to take the time and try to understand different valving/setups. What SUA kit are you currently on?

Definitely most people don’t realize how much performance they really leave on the table without tuning. The plan is to have a reputable shock tuner meet me in Barstow so we can try to see where the kit reaches it max performance. I’m currently on a tc sua kit with hd springs with the 4 leaf removed. I have a set of custom atlas springs I’m gonna be swapping in once the bypasses show up from king.

Will you PM me pricing for the rear bumper? And will it need to be welded or bolted on? Been looking for a change of scenery & this would be perfect.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. We’re still at it grinding away. For the last few months we’ve working on moving into our new shop and designing some new tools and parts.

    the new shop

I am very excited to finally be at a point where we can start offering a production version of my basic prerunner rear bumper. The final version does have a few more tubes added for reinforcement, but they are located under the truck. Bumper will still look the same as pictured here once mounted to the truck.

We’ve also added some more options to our shock hoop kits. Here’s a few pics of the spare tire carrier shock hoop crossmember, it will hold up to a 38” tire. The first one was installed on Jim_bobs truck which is pictured here. We also offer boxed lower shock mounts, and limit strap mounts as add-on’s as well.

The version I am currently producing will be a prerunner version. It will not have d rings on it. It interferes with the clearance and streamline design, but it will have multiple tube junctions that will make great recovery points with the use of soft shackles.
