Do you have any install notes or pics of the tweeters in the sail panels? I've recently replaced the stock tweeter and woofer with some focals but I was just thinking about how I could add a mid-range speaker somewhere. If I could put it in the dash where the Tweeter is, bring the Tweeter up to ear level in that panel, and figure out how to wire it all so they're getting the frequencies they need I'll be set.

Kinda, I pretty much just measured where on the panel I would have the most clearance on the backside, cut a hole and hot glued them in.

Here is my build thread for the system that has most of the pictures.

Very cool. After seeing how you put the tweeters in I started wondering if there was a custom sail made for this purpose and started googling. I've seen since in other vehicles but I came across this... Looks like the mids would be where your tweeters are now though. Plus it looks like it covers the side window vent. How do you think something like this would sound though with the mids right in your face like that? I'm just trying to wrap my head around doing this with the least amount of fabricating or irreversible cutting possible. I'm sure they put the mid here because it would just be easier than trying to convince people to put their mid in the Tweeter spot where it might not fit and the Tweeter up high but this would be a lot better replaced with the Tweeter the way you have it.

Honestly I think those pods are not needed and more of a hinderance than anything. Having just the mids pointing at your face and not addressing the tweeters is going to sound terrible. If they made a pod that had tweeters and mids then it would be ok, but not how they have them now. Your better off putting tweeters in the sail panels and mids in the dash.

I just modeled up some dash speaker 3D printable mounts for my 2021 Sienna. I'm guessing they'll fit the Tacomas as well. There are mounts for CDT Unity 8's, AudioFrog GB25, and a blank one here: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/toyota-dash-speaker-mounts-cdt-gb25-blank

If someone can measure between the center of the two mounting holes for the Tacoma dash speaker that'd really help. Hopefully it's around 104-105mm.

Just put CDT Unity 8.0's in my Sienna dash with the CDT 6x9 in the door, and man, for around $200.. it's very impressive considering I have a way more expensive setup in my Tesla.

From center of hole to center of hole its about 9cm. But take my measurements as a "close enough" as I am using a fish ruler to take that measurement.

Ah thanks, looks like the Sienna must have a wider mount for some wierd reason. My first version of the mounts were actually based on some 4runner mounts, which do have the 90mm (9cm bolt holes): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4541168

Maybe I can make up some Tacoma specific versions for you guys.

There are actually several on the market already, but there are a few things audio that no one makes that we need.... we really need someone to make a sail panel tweeter.

What kind of 3d printers are y'all using? I can think of a few uses for one including making some RC car parts.

Morel 3.5 mids fit no problem. I also mounted the tweeter in the A pillar.

the Morel 3-1/2" mid range in dash location, are they mounted in place with screws? or are they stuffed in there somehow?
also the a-pillar pods, did you use a drill hole saw?

i set the mids in the location just to see if they fit. I put the grills on and just ended up leaving them without screws. It does not move around as it is a very snug fit with the grills on the mids. The pods come with the morel tweeters. Used two screws to hold the pod in place and 1/4” drill bit to pass the wire through the a pillar.

I've run cdt in couple of cars. Had cdt 6.5 components in another truck and currently have CDT 6x9 components in car, very happy with them.

Getting ready to do Tacoma by end of month, with Kicker 6x9 3way, kicker 3.5 in dash, kicker 6.5 rear doors and kicker 10.

3 way 6x9 is was overkill. You already have a mid and tweeter in the dash, no need to add more to the doors. It will not sound right. Just get the 2way for the doors and the 3.5 for the dash.

moved my tweeters from dash to a-pillar although limited in adjustments, it seemed to have improved the tweeter response. I gave up the stealth stock look for sq and don't mind.

i noticed a difference also. Morel tweeters need to be mounted on axis
