That is exactly what Pay Pal does. And that is why the poor slob is worth millions of dollars now after he sold it to E-Bay.

Yeah I vote for a prerequisite for the BST and also for the requirement to have a pay pal account because c'mon we all have bank accounts right? Unless you stash your cash under your mattress lol and yes, anyone can take a picture of their item for sale but we can eliminate of someone claiming something that's not theirs by taking a pic of item and putting a name tag like this :)

The name tag thing is actually a good idea.

Yeah, I used to go through E-bay listings and see two or more with different posters, but the exact pictures or descriptions or both. Sometimes a scamer would simply copy someone else's listing and then add their name and contact info. I used to find them and simply send a link to both asking who is the original one. More likely than not, the scamer would not answer back and the original person would send a thank you note and turn the scamer into officials.

What about photoshop? Again, there are a ton of ways to get around this if you are desperate and want to scam someone. In the end, it is up to us to look at the info and make the decision. I only like to buy or sell items with local pick up only. Or from a reputable dealer/store.

I like my idea. Buy from local TW members only, face to face. If you live in FL and you have a guy selling a supercharger and it's sitting in his box in the garage waiting to be shipped out to a buyer, don't jump on it unless you can afford to lose the money.

I think I'll call it.. "common sense." Has a nice ring to it.

Also OP this has nothing to do with you, just using it as an example.

Instead of a form, I should have used the word template.

Fill out fields x,y,and z and you can post a b/s thread.

Basic info would be displayed in the exact same spot in every, and the seller can ad what ever description they want (such as pricing for multiple items/condition/etc).

Bob would not have to hold anything, it would just guarantee there would be some form of a picture, price, contact info and a method of secure payment (personal paypal), in addition to having the required post count.

    word choice is key

Well isn't that what the mods are for anyways? To enforce the rules and be sure there is a picture and price.
I feel like we're making it harder than it needs to be lol

We cant expect them to catch everything :notsure: and threads w/o pics they lock anyways. May take some stuff of their backs.

Just brain storming while we wait to see if it's been shipped :p

Nothing new still. Seller won't return my texts or calls and the bank hasn't gotten back to me. Also no parts as of today. Wednesday will be 1 week so if he did ship them they should arrive late this week or early next week according to him.

PayPal has it's own protection within a certain time period, so I wouldn't be as cautious with PayPal as other ways to make payments. But in the end, I think it's far safer to not spend more than you can afford to lose since gambling doesn't always pay off.

People sell on e-bay through PayPal to people they have never heard of before, lest any post counts...
It should be relatively safe since you do have the PayPal protection, although it will probably be a pain to deal with if it comes to that.

why cant we have honest people any more?? I mean, I know there are some good peeps on here but crap like this makes me want to be a little more cautious. shoot, me and a fellow member just exchanged truck parts, he is from IA, and I'm from Cali. No money involved, we just both said " alright, we ship the parts tomorrow. DEAL"! couple of days later, we both had our parts. Wish it was always that easy.

    Awaiting outcome of this....

Well, that would be the normal way the majority of us think. However, as in all of history, there's always that one asshole...
