Thanks guys, I can wait the shipping time (shouldn't take 7-10 days to get from SoCal to NorCal), but it just worried me because all communication has stopped. I'll try calling again today, but if I don't hear anything back I will talk to the local police. I'm not sure how much they can do since it's across the state, but it's worth a shot. Shit if I found his address I'd be willing to fly down just to confront him. Might cost $500, but would be more than worth it.

I'm just too trusting is my problem. I'm one of those people that always believes there is a good side to everyone. Guess this time it bit me in the ass. I'll keep you guys updated, but would anyone be willing to call the guy later today to see if he is screening my calls?

Sorry to hear that OP. I got scammed for $2500 before. I was all set to never get the money back and was fine with that. Much like you, it was my own fault. A year after the incident the scammer was convicted on some theft charges and sentenced to 3 years in jail (prior record). I will start getting $50/ month from the county clerks office only AFTER the 3 year sentence is complete and a 3 month waiting period.

In the future, its PayPal or nothing as you know. If someone doesn't send the goods, you get your money back.

    Good luck.

From my experience, your local LE could care less if you get scammed over the internet. I wish you luck and I hope things work out.

How long of a time frame are we talking on, "not answering his phone."?
He only posted it a few days ago. So like a day of no phone contact?

He was in constant contact all of Tuesday and Wednesday until I asked for a picture of the receipt for shipping. He said he will look for it and now there has been no contact from 6pm on Wednesday. I know that's a short amount of time, but he was extremely responsive before and you don't get that busy right away where you can't return a text.

Did you try calling from different lines? There's a feature on a lot of cell phones to block a caller.. maybe if you try calling from a different number you might have better luck getting more than one ring. If you use Google to make a phone call, the area code (that's viewed on his end) often shows up in a state different than yours and might make him more willing to answer. Just a thought. Good luck man.
