No matter how low I let the level get, I always seem to have 2-3 gallons still in there. I have never filled up with more than 19 gallons. :(

I agree. I drove home from NJ last Tuesday and went 40 miles after the light came on. I stopped to fill up and put in 18.523 gal. Assuming I was getting my normal 22 mpg hwy, 4 gallons would be about right.

Isn't there space left in the tank for fumes and expansion? That would mean less than that.

my sg is always at 5 gal when the light comes on. When I first got it, it read 4, but now that I have it dialed in to almost accurate, it reads 5 at every tank and I always fill up after the light goes on.
