Miles per tank

I have a 2020 4x4 or with barely 5k miles on it. I fill the tank to the top and my distance to empty has decreased. What causes that? Mind you the truck is still stock. Thank you

 

Are you asking about what the multi-information display is reporting as distance to empty? If so, it is no more than an estimate (Toyota should really call it a guesstimate) and even as you drive the estimate may change more than just the number of miles driven.

 

The distance to empty on the display will adjust accordingly as you put more miles on it. When I picked my truck up it said 400+ miles to empty, but now it shows around 315-320 miles. It dropped well below 300 for a few tanks after an 800 mile trip towing a side-by-side. My current distance to empty is actually pretty accurate now.

 

seems like you lost a few smiles per gallon somewhere between yesterday and the day you bought it from the dealership. might have to opt for that mt taco you wanted all along.

 

Mine always showed about 280 till empty when I purchased in 2015, now it shows the high 300's.
