    Hello all,

I have a 96 Tacoma that has a jack, but I am missing the thing that comes in 3 sections that allows you to lower the spare tire and crank the jack. Anyone know where I might find a replacement? I am not terribly savvy, as likely evidenced by my not even knowing what the part is called.

    Thanks for the help folks!

I have looked on Ebay, but generally they sell the entire kit (including the jack, lug wrench, and the piece I need) for around $75 with shipping. I am trying to avoid paying so much when I only need the one piece. I was hoping I could simply buy the piece at an auto parts store. I really don't know how interchangeable they are.

My experience is only with an 07, but the mechanism appears to basically be a small hand-cranked winch, and the extension arm only functions to get you up close to the piece. Mine is a eyehook shaped piece of steel that fits into the equivalent of a large slotted screw head.

So if you found some other segmented jack arm, it's going to probably have a similar 1/4" square end where the segments connect together. So you could probably get a piece of 1/4" square stock, bend a circle or something on it, and then carry that around for the raising and lowering.
