Well, I was considering Camburg for the maximum travel but that AllPro kit giveaway is sick! I'll get in the thread.

I don't think that you are being indecisive. I think that you already know the right answer--from the tone of your posts anyway. Go for the sportsman class and have fun with it--that was the point anyway! 7sx will still be there after you've gotten some more experience if you change your mind. Better to start out having fun than to start out in a competition that turns out to be no fun at all, or worse, makes you hate racing. :)

I wouldn't suggest mounting a quad .50 in the back of the Tacoma because it's heavy as heck. I'll make an educated guess that you're talking 1500lbs+ with the mount and anough ammo to make it worth chasing bad guys.

The only chance I'd have is if all 4 of his wheels fell off, but if that happened you'd better believe I'd find a camera to record it!

Don't bother doing the swap. The stock brakes work much better and the kit I have had serious interference issues with the stock rear shock location on the driver's side. The company that I bought from doesn't even offer the kit anymore.

The decision has been made. I'm going with the Sportsman class. Thanks to everyone for providing advice and being a sounding board for me!

Parts have been ordered, vendors has been contacted, and March will be a month of chaos for me. I'm going with:

.Giant Motorsports' 64" leaf long travel rear suspension
.Camburg's long travel front suspension with bypass shocks
.High Angle Driveline's trophy truck 2-piece driveshaft with heavy duty carrier bearing

I'm going to contact AllPro and inquire about extended tubes for their heavy duty steering kit because I really want to run it with the extended width of the Camburg kit.

I'm eying the SCORE Primm 300 race in September as my goal for this year. It's a race around a 75 mile (approximate) loop, in the US, no chase teams allowed, and pits are in a single defined area. I have my tow vehicle and trailer set, so logistically and financially this race makes the most sense as a starting point.

5 months to build and test the truck isn't much when only working on it on nights and weekends.

I'm downright giddy about it. :D

    Oh hell yes. :)

I usually don't post in this thread unless I actually have an update but I just couldn't keep it in anymore. Before I was building the truck the rules required instead of the truck I wanted to build. Now I'm way excited about what the truck is soon to become!

    It's getting there. :)

The truck's going back into the shop tonight for a short 2-day stay to install Giant Motorsports' spring-under conversion. Here's a crappy cell-phone pic of what's in the kit:
    downsized_0302091231.jpg

Even more exciting than that, earlier today I placed a nice little order with the friendly folks at Camburg.

I am so freaking excited! :goingcrazy:

    Because you know me.

    One of these:
    full%20kit.jpg

    A couple of these:
    longtaco.jpg

Two new longer-travel Fox 2.5" remote reservoir coilovers.

Extended axle shafts so I can keep my 4 wheel drive.

And...I think that's it. I'll be back there in few months to get the stuff for secondary front bypass shocks and will give Giant a call for their Link Killer bypass shocks, but the above list will keep me plenty busy for now.

Hey Moderators! Any chance I could get the title of this thread changed to "mjp2's build" since I'm not longer planning to run 7sx?

    Thanks!
