Small stupid thing here. The fiberglass fenders open a nice big hole for water to enter the engine air intake. I needed to fix that and did this one for free.

First, the hole that's completely exposed in the wheelwell:
    IMG_1468.jpg

This will make people cringe, but I hacked up the TRD airbox.
    IMG_1471.jpg

Cut a plastic plate from the hacked-off end of the airbox.
    IMG_1472.jpg

Riveted the plastic over the opening.
    IMG_1475.jpg

When it all went back together it looked something like this:
    IMG_1483.jpg

No more cold air intake, but I'd rather have hot air enter the engine than water. I figure with this setup I'll be reasonable safe going through puddles. I put the lid back on the airbox as extra protection against splashing over the top. Probably not needed, but it's free insurance.

Very true. :p I planned on hacking the end off of it for airflow anyway. It was just happenstance that I used a piece of the scrap to cover the opening.

The Giant Motorsports 64" rear suspension kit is installed. :)

The stock hangers were cut off and the new ones that came with the kit were welded in place. All components are considerably stronger than stock.
    IMG_1504.jpg

For additional strength, Carroll's Rod & Racecraft tied the rear hangers together with some square tube:
    IMG_1500.jpg

Due to all the extra travel, my driveshaft skidplate needed to be trimmed and the driveshaft hoop was enlarged to address clearance issues:
    IMG_1505.jpg

With the right shock absorbers properly mounted and a driveshaft with more slip I'm going to see some nice travel numbers. For now my rear travel is limited by the 12" travel shocks I currently have mounted on the truck.
    IMG_1512.jpg

The jounce shocks will go back on the truck when I get the proper shocks installed. Right now the suspension can't compress enough to hit 'em anyway.

The truck sits about an inch and half lower than it did with the All Pro 3" leafs, which is fine with me because of all the uptravel I'd gained by moving the leaf packs under the axle. This shot also shows how the cross-bar that ties the rear hangers together is not much lower than the rear bumper.
    IMG_1552.jpg

Clearance for the rear shackles is a huge consideration. The swing on them is incredible. I rerouted the taillight wiring behind the frame instead of over it so it's out of harm's way. Once I have the right shocks and driveshaft installed I'll most likely have to cut the metal behind the shackle for clearance. As the suspension fully compresses these things are gonna flatten out pretty good.
    IMG_1555.jpg

On the driver's side I had to relocate one of the negative battery cables to avoid having it clobbered by the shackle. It's just hanging loose in this shot:
    IMG_1556.jpg

At the moment I'm awaiting a delivery from Glassworks. :)
