Well a good start for the holidays for me, drive from tucsob to norwalk for the holiday and my u joints snapped exiting the freeway. Called around local toyota dealers for a replacemebt shaft but oent be here till tuesday, got to go back to work by tuesday night - im an icu nurse and we are getting over runned by covid. If anyone can recommend a mobile mech in the 562 area that can replace the u joints and maybe the carrier bearing that would be great. Local shops wants to charge an arm and a leg to replace the u joints due to holiday weekend. Ty. Happy holidays.

@Daxdagr8t try OC Driveline in placentia. Not sure you are going to be able to get any work done on such short notice.

Agree. Such short notice might be tough. You might ask around on the sub forum local to your area and see if anyone has a spare just to swap in temporarily.

I'm no good with U joints. :anonymous:

OP looks like possibly more than just U joints are needed. Hopefully someone more experienced with driveshafts will chime in. I've also heard you want to stick with OEM U joints.

For your truck there are 2 used driveshafts within driving distance. One is $398 in Sun Valley, the other $250 in Bakersfield.

On one side, if swapping a whole shaft, those are easier to install than U-joint work.
At least on a 4x4 I believe it bolts onto the front, and onto the third member/rear diff at the back.
