What's with the gap in between the tails and the bumper?

Looks about an inch of gap between the bumper taillight. Is that intended?

I think they are, they just need a truck with BSM so they can figure something out. Unfortunately not many Tacos in their area I'm guessing

I think the gap under the lights is kept pretty consistent with the gap under the tailgate. When the tailgate is open, that gap between it and the bumper is pretty tight. There is some adjustment on where you mount it, and I'm happy with where it is.

Also, I think if you get the swing out option, some of the mounting brackets go in that gap...But I'm not 100% sure.

You are correct in both statements.

There is some adjustment up. The tailgate is so wide that we had to make the gap under wide for the angle when opening.

The gap between the taillight and bumper is for brackets for swing out.

Also, the tailgate is convex. So there needs to be more space at the center of the tailgate than at the edges. Not a lot, but it is noticeable.
