25 caps arrived today, 10 shipped immediately so 15 left. We are already running more so we avoid the delays from the original batch run this way we always have stock.

Thanks again for everyone standing by!

Hey Joe - Got my notice today (no, I didn't get fired!) and I am anxiously waiting
for the arrival of my cap. Ya know, your customer base will stand with you if you
just keep us informed of the issues/progress. I am very pleased with my locking
storage doors and tailgate skin. I am also confident that the cap will surpass my
    expectations.
Money has never been the issue, I am eager to support a new idea or mod, if
the originator will just keep us informed. No, it does not have to be a daily rag,
but a recap at the end of the week on all the projects you are working on would
make all of us feel we're a part of your venture - and it just might drum up a
little more interest in the community. I have seen more than one or two potential
customers hold back and miss out on the opportunity to get a free cap due to the
way information was withheld regarding projects in process.
You are in the business to make money and you have a captive, interested
audience here at TW. What better venue to let TACO lovers know what you have
to offer and what is on the drawing board. Answer a few of those FAQs you have
on your website for the newbies and point them to your website. Why not provide
insights to your products like the audio community does, perhaps highlighting a
different product each week. Just some food for thought Joe. No news is not always
good news! Oh, and keep those GREAT mods coming. . .

To anyone on the fence regarding the tailgate skin/cap. Now that they are in
production, don't hesitate to buy - these two mods introduce the Taco a whole
new meaning of the word "Truck'! But, be forewarned that the two screws on
the top of the tailgate do not come out easy. They use a T-25 Torx driver and
are most likely painted the color of your Taco. I recommend taking a sharp
knife or razor and cut the paint where the screw cap meets the tailgate. If
you have a lot of paint in the head of the screw, take an awl or small screw-
driver and clear as much of it out as possible. I think the guys in San Antonio
used a whole tube of locktite on mine. If you mung one up (as I did), the
screw is metric M-6 x 100. X 25MM and since I am having to replace one,
I'm replacing both with Stainless Steel as they will be exposed to the
elements. That tailgate sure looks sharp now and I am not hesitant to haul
    anything on it.

Are you sure it is a T-25? I removed the one on ours with a T-30. Who knows, I could have used the wrong one!

I am unsure when or if we ever do it again. We only really did it to get the ball rolling on the first run of parts. We will run future sales, but I am pretty certain the cap will not be free again, just discounted.

Joe I just checked again and I stand corrected, You are right - it is a T30 (and a loose
fitting one at that). I do not know why they use a 1 inch (25MM) long screw, but mine
had black locktite down its entire length.

So did ours, I effed the first one up and had to remove it with channel locks... Nice considering the truck still has less than 500 miles on it.

IMHO, this tailgate is now beefier than any other in the industry. Even though we
have had to wait since February and several of us got a little antsy, I would eagerly
do it again. Having said that let me add a word of caution to anyone putting a load
on the bed's side walls. Remember that they too are composite (plastic). If you are
putting a rack above the bed, be sure to support it all the way down to the frame
mounts or you may end up wishing you had. Our truck bed side walls are not designed
to support al lot of weight.

Absolutely. I have seen a couple bed racks that are designed to hold a good amount of weight and they all go to the bolts that anchor the bed to the chassis.

Also, heavy items with fairly sharp corners, anchor them down even if they sit in the bed with the tailgate shut. Had a set of sliders in the bed of my second gen, sliding around and got home, cracks and holes in multiple spots...

My cap came with a 1/2' wide (+/-) length of closed cell foam tape that was about
6" shorter than the tailgate is wide. Upon first inspection I believed that it was
intended to be placed forward of the inner skin and outer skin seam (about the same
width but too short). I decided to put about a quarter inch from the outer edge,
centered on the tailgate. I then used a piece of 5/8" Frost King seal tape where I first
thought the supplied tape was meant to go. Because I have a BedRug, the two outer
screws have a lot of tension. I plan to augment them with fender washers to bring the
edges in closer alignment. Tip: Before tightening down the screws on the inside of the
tailgate, tighten the two on the top
    - they will help with alignment with the side walls.

Oh, one recommendation for the tailgate skin. The current design hangs about 1/4"
below the bottom of the tailgate and may interfere with operation of the tailgate
when a BedRug or tailgate seal is installed. Especially if anyone plans to use the
plastic skin on top of the mod (although I can't see a reason why anyone would).

Stan 23 - Do you have the new Tailgate Cap as well? The thickness of the BedRug
causes the end screws to rest 1/4" above the Tailgate skin (remember those white
spacers you used when you installed the BedRug on the tailgate) and to bend the
14 gauge steel cap ends so they contact the tailgate skin requires considerable
torque on the Rivet-nuts. I too have the BedRug and both of the Mobtown tailgate
mods installed. However, if you are not having any problems, I am happy for you
    - enjoy your BedRug and your two tailgate mods.

Stan 23 - My error, I misread your posting. Now, if you run your hand along the bottom
of your tailgate with the new skin installed, you will see what I am talking about. I tuck
my BedRug between the bed and the tailgate and with that extra 1/4" it is a tight fit.

If you bought the tailgate reinforcement cap during the pre-release and it didn't ship prior to us running the sale on the 4th of July, your refund has been issued. It was only three orders, their numbers were 3118, 3121 and 3125. Please allow 5-10 days for the refund to appear on your credit card.

    Thanks!
