How to modify Katzkin Degreez seats so they actually blow cooled air

100% reversible and it's easy - you don't have to remove seats to do it.
My seat temps dropped a full 20 degrees lower than the stock Degreez setup.

    Requirements:
    * Taco DCSB - may also work on Access Cab, to be confirmed.
    * Katzkin seat covers with Degreez fans
    * Mod kit:
    2.jpg
5" of 1.5" diameter shop vac hose
3" of 1" diameter PVC pipe
1" PVC elbow with one corner cut down as shown
    Screws

Here's what you'll be looking at under the seat. Drivers side pictured.
    1.jpg

    Directions:

    1. Set your front seat where you like it. From the back seat, find where the fan under your front seat is. It’ll be covered in a white mesh filter. Mark the spot on the floor directly below the fan.

    2. Slide the front seat all they way forward and lean it forward.

    3. Assemble one end of the 1" PVC pipe in elbow, and the other in the vacuum hose. No need to glue anything, it'll be plenty snug. Lay this state-of-the-art setup with the white elbow sitting where it will be directly under your seat fan. At the other end, lay the vacuum hose over the vent outlet. Mark where it overlaps 1" past the end of the vent outlet and cut it the vac hose.

    4. Pull the plastic vent outlet toward the base of the back seat. It's about a foot long and will unclip from in front of your front seat. [TIP: Once it unclips, clip it back in to get a feel for when you put it back in a couple minutes.] Then remove it completely.

    5. Shove 1" of the vacuum hose in the vent outlet and screw it in from the top, about 1/4” in from each side of the vacuum hose.

    4.jpg

    6. Reinstall the vent outlet and clip it in like you practiced. Might take a bit of fishing around but you’ll find it.

6a. *optional* Add some screws through the carpet into the vent outlet to secure it in place (see 2nd photo from top)

    7. Make sure the elbow is facing up, then slide your front seat back into the normal position. Check it from behind to make sure the elbow is under the seat fan. Don’t worry if it’s not exact, just as long as it’s in the ballpark.

    8. Turn your seat fans on, and turn your A/C on and set it to the Front/Floor mix.

    9. Now it’ll be piping the cold air directly into the seat fan. Enjoy!

Could this be done with pc fan and factory seats? How does the katzkin seat get the air up to the perforations?

I wish it was that easy. You need two things that both let the air through: 1) Perforated seat fabric and 2) specialty mesh seat padding instead of foam.

    Is the fan necessary?

Ha this is clever. Good use of that vent if you rarely ever have back seat passengers.

Thanks. They still get half, which I figure is better than walking.
