I got some new ditch lights I want to play with and think a night time run would be fun. Anyone have a suggestion on a moderate trail we can fairly safely do at night? Something within an hour or so of the denver area would be preferable but willing to travel a bit further.

Since I am the lowest common denominator I'll list my mods:

    Front skid plate
    Rocker sliders
    265/75/16 wildpeaks
    All else stock.

In the group we have recovery gear, straps, winches off of 2 vehicles, traction boards, and air.

We're looking to start something at dusk and into the night before returning home.

    Any suggestions would be great!

So far I'm thinking of switzerland trail since that would be a really easy trail at night, then opposing that is slaughterhouse gulch but I did have some hits and scrapes last time that may be a bit concerning in the dark.

In the Idaho Springs area, "moderate" [in TrailsOffroad terms] would be Barbour Fork, Devil's Canyon, Cascade Creek. Bill Moore Lake (though, not clear to the end yet) by Empire, and the more exciting route to Waldorf (labelled McClellan Mtn on TrailsOffroad), are a little further out.

I would not want to come down the very narrow shelf roads of Saxon Mtn (Continuation of Cascade Creek) at night.

Grizzly gulch road off the I-70 bakerville exit is pretty fun out and back right next to Torreys peak.

I have ditch lights on mine...

I tested them on dark curve road with trees all over place at the farmland. Works great.

I would like to know what places are best for night off roading. I don't want rock crawling or narrow trails.

At the end of Cascade Creek you can go west to Saxon Mtn, or go east onto South Spring Gulch. From there you can jump off onto Ute Creek, Trail Creek, take Molly Brown and loop back to Cascade Creek, or stay on South Spring Gulch all the way to Hwy 103.
