So I have trolled forums for the last four or five years trying to learn as much as possible and this is the first time Iv posted on anything I have done. Ill start with the intake... Basically the previous owner installed a K&N and it sucked. A month ago I took It all apart to clean and try and fix a cel code. The throttle body was so gunked up from oil and dirt and my maf had a thick layer of oily dust so I was pretty upset. I set out on doing some research for a new intake, I really like the AEM Dryflow I had one on my 2006 eclipse and it seriously took a beating but no dirt ever got through that I could tell. I researched pipe sizes and filter sizes and everything else about intakes and of course the deck plate mod. After all that I decided to keep the K&N tube because it has the largest diameter and It is the lightest, I got an AEM Brute Force filter, the biggest one that would fit the compartment, (9.25" Length - 6" Base Diameter and 5.1" Top Diameter) I covered that with an AEM filter wrap because it sheds moisture pretty well. (Had one on my eclipse where the filter was right next to the front tire on the bottom of the bumper, moisture never really got to the filter with the wrap on.) I then replaced the MAF sensor with a Jet Power flow and cleaned out the throttle body. The P0171 went out and never came back on and this was over a thousand miles ago. Hate on intakes all you want but I absolutely notice a throttle response difference, everything feels so free and the roar in the 4-5,000 rpm range is deafening. I have been doing a lot of off road traveling and to monitor this whole system better I got a filter gauge from AEM so I know when things are getting dirty and its time to clean.

Not hating at all... But its not a Cold air intake. Stock is cold air. That is Hot air. Sucks hot engine air, not cold "outside of the engine bay" air. Just sayin. Good job though, looks good.

This is where I found the MAF www.jetchip.com you might find better prices on other sites too. And yes You are right the correct term for this would be a short ram intake. I have been looking at building some sort of box around the filter so that it can utilize the airway the stock intake was hooked up to for lower temperature air...

Did your AEM filter fit right onto the K&N hardware? Also are there other "dry" filters that same size(that would fit onto the K&N set up) trying to get away from an oiled filter.

I just replaced a K&N filter from the same intake with THIS one from AFE. Straight swap.
