at least on most cars, the compressor only kicks on when you have it on defrost. not regular heat. and that's because it actually works. your windows will defog 10x better when the compressor is dehumidifying the air.

yeah, you can hit the ac button and the compressor will run. You want to save money and get mpg..this is one most people don't do, but it works.

ON good days I'm 20+ mpg with 285 mts, beat that!

What people forget to mention, including the original poster, is if they are driving a 2x4 or 4x4 makes a difference in what you are getting.
I wish you guys would post what are you driving as you post your mpg!
Saying that you are getting 19mph... or whatever, will not be the same on double cab 4x4 vs single 2x4, both V6 !!
    Cheers!

AC off "mod" or are you actually refering to just turning it off like the other guys are talking about

the best thing would be to pull the AC compressor itself, then you'll notice more MPG and power

I installed the Honda Accord 4 cyld mod about a year ago and LOVE IT! Costs about $11,000 so I havent seen any return just yet. Specially when I drive my truck more than the car :).

but why would you want to use the defrost settings if it doesn't defrost? that's the whole point of using defrost is turning on the compressor to make the fog go away on the windows.
