I work for Carquest Autoparts, and i have recently attended a class which compared Moog with Raybestos, which is our new suspension part. Moog is a very good product, but its technology is dated. Raybestos however is newly designed and a overall better product, which still has a lifetime warranty. Not only is it a better product, but it is also better priced.

I have the seals, but I did not install them yet. I'm waiting till I get my new axles, which should be a few weeks away. When i put them in, I'll install the new seals.

Does Raybestos even make tie rod ends & ball joints?

I have Auto Zone & Advance Auto locally here in Johnstown, Pa and I ordered low priced Tie Rod ends for $19.99 ea at Advance, but they called me and said the company no longer made these parts, so they bumped me up to the $29.99 tie rods, then again, same thing till finally they said they could only get the MOOG brand which sold for around $55ea. They apologized for the week delay, but let me have them at the $19.99 price. I like MOOG Brand which I have used for almost 30 years. They are quality parts. I only know Raybestos for brakes and brake parts.

    A few bolts are different.
I have Napa in my area. I have the choice of KOYO or Napa brand for front bearings. The Napa brand has a 45,000 mile warranty. I'm not sure of the KOYO warranty and cant find infor on it. Any insight on which brand to buy?

Napa is NSK so both good brands. Take whatever cheaper they both are plastic inside. You'll have to pack them with grease anyway

cool, thanks. I'll take the napa with warranty I believe. That way I can get free ones because I know I will wear them out before 45,000. I dont have a press so re-packing the bearings are not an option for me. I'll have to take them to get the hubs pressed though...

You have to fill new bearings with grease. Once you pick them up from NAPA put some Mobil red grease in them. One side is removable (with brown rubber seal) once you lift that side you will be able to see inside and put grease in there. (look at post #85 I have bearing appart) If you offroad it will prevent water from getting into the bearing and prolong life.

carquest is the only one carrying raybestos Chassis as of right now. I know in NC there are few autozones that can order raybestos chassis parts but they are not stocked. Also Raybestos has a 2 year 24k mile warranty for labor, and the part is warranted for lifetime.

    RAYBESTOS:
    BALL JOINTS
    • One-piece forged for strength
    • Two-piece cylindrical wedge provides Industry's finest fatigue/wear resistance
    • No spring, no endplay
    • Cold formed, heat-treated stud for superior strength ad durability
    • Full Ball design delivers ample wear surface
    • Fused urethane boot prevents joint disintegration
    • One premium pieces, no galvanic corrosion thanks to coated stud and hardware

Cool. Ill throw them up, but I have to say the Moog serviceable tie rod is still #1 IMO. I need to be able to grease them.

So somebody remind my why do we need to change wheel bearings at 40K?
All my grinds on turn now are gone. Pass side had eaten seal so wheel bearing must have caused CV to wobble. I can only imagine if I waited I would have to replace needle bearings in diff too.

Yeah I could have probably put another 20 K but I have OCD. :D
Bearings just started going this year and it was faint grind on turn at slow speed, but I did not want to wait to get worse. If I had to pay for replacement I would have probably drove it for another 20K. It cost me only parts plus I wanted to have excuse to use my 20 ton press ;)
Still those bearings should have lasted little longer then they did. I am Little disappointed on this one.

But the real answer will be how many miles you get out of them. Fred thought his were put in fine until they blew out 20k later. Joe just had his done by a shop and within a couple hundred miles he is having issues.

My truck is going on blocks this weekend so Ill see how easy it is to DIY without proper tools.

Thats what I am assuming. I would have to imagine you need to get it within a mm. I have the manual and bought the parts months ago, but it's time because I no longer feel safe with my wheels wobbling all over at highway speed.
