Has anyone used these or know someone that has? They are rated at 5T (10,000lbs WLL). A traditional shackle like a Crosby is rated for 4 3/4T (9,500lbs WLL). They come in a bunch of colors which I know could be cool to some and a turnoff to others. Just thought they were a neat option and looking for some feedback.

Relentless Armored! Too many others to list.
Haven't seen those before but they are intriguing.
Considering they've kept a considerably adequate load capacity I do see them having a place in the market, but a somewhat smaller/specialized group.
The obvious benefit is quick attachment of a looped recovery rope/strap by not having to deal with a regular screw pin. However you'd need to permanently mount them on the bumper to take advantage of that which means they'd be clunking around all the time on there. That said, they'd probably be good for someone's dedicated offroad rig, or for guys doing very frequent recoveries with their rig.

They supply isolators with each shackle to "center" them to shackle mounts.

A practical use for this might be replacing the hook on the end of a winch line (Assuming it fits and/or came in a smaller size (Don't see that it does). I would be interested, however:

o Specs from their web site: "5 Ton (10,000lb) Work Load Limit (*Manufactured to ASME 30.26 standards, but not certified)". Good on them for using working load limit versus breaking strength

o Country of origin is neither disclosed nor visible in pictures on their site. Pretty easy to put 2 and 2 together there

These two factors are the deal breakers for me. High consequence and relatively low cost item like a shackle, 100% I am sticking with rated/proven kit from a reputable dealer (Example: https://www.tulsachain.com/shackles/super-strong-anchor-shackle-galvanized/)

The traditional bow shackle pretty much guarantees double shear loading on the pin. I'm not sure that's always going to be the case with this split design. Sure, if those dogs lock together nicely and key them together as a result of pressure from a tow strap or rope, but what about if you see a cyclic slack/taut scenario as the vehicle bumps it's way out of a situation? I can see this loosening up, maybe getting cocked in a bad way, and putting a high bending load on the pin.

Also, what's with those two little "hook" looking things? Sort of looks like they're there to retain a strap within that location, but I can see them tearing a strap or rope to hell in some cases.

    Just my speculations... YMMV.

Interesting idea for folks who store their shackles on their bumper like a bunch of nipple rings.

Also they’re made in America and they don’t clunk around even after being worn in for years lol I have 3 pairs and a couple of my friends have some as well. None of us had ever had an issue with them except over a long period of time the color will fade. 57AEAD62-0A60-4454-B571-BFF8320EFEC2.jpg

I almost never left them dangling because the pin threads would rust lock so I don’t see the need for the split…

Dang that’s weird mine have never done that…didn’t you say you had yours a while ago? I think some things have been updated and changed about them is what I’m told…I’ve been very pleased so have my friends and that’s really all I can go on…now I can say the traditional design has some pretty good stats though

Listen, if you’re ever stuck and need to be pulled out of the mud or a ditch or something in a hurry….the Jowls design is as good as it gets considering you can get your rope hooked up in less than ten seconds….no more spin pins, and no more dropping pins in the dirt or mud then searching for them….the WLL is almost 60,000 lbs which can go be fact checked on their website…..all I’m speaking on is the Jowls design….these shackles are the best you can buy right now. …side note- you should also check their Lug Line 30 /20/15 recovery rope with the high tech looking polymer Mooseknuckles made in to each end….that thing is sick lol I want one so bad but theyre a little pricey……PRODIGY10 gives a 15% discount on their site….i know the owner/creator personally…the reason im knowledgeable about the brand, I’ve heard it all from him more times than i remember.

They’re high quality for sure though
