After I broke a ball joint bolt, I'm putting it back together and must have buggered the threads on the axle a bit. I can get about 1 turn and it starts binding.

The nut threads on the old axle just fine but not on the new axle. I looked at it, and checked it out as best I can and might see a tiny bit of a flat spot but it's hardly noticeable. I wire brushed everything but it's still not going together.

I should run at tap down the threads to clean them up, that would be the right thing to do. I'm not sure what the thread is though? Then I need to find a thread chaser that size.

I'm tempted to run the nut down on the threads. I can get another nut pretty easy, but that could go horribly wrong.

Maybe I'm an idiot, nope got that covered.

    Suggestions?

A thread file is much cheaper, its hard work but it will fix it. You can find them everywhere.

Then run the big nut with lots of lube until it gets to the good threads, back it off and on a few times you'll be gold.

I fuck those threads all the time.

Metric, the thread files are universal, it will be like 12 14 etc. They have 8 sides to them.

Thanks. It's on it's way. Hopefully it cleans it up and I'm done with this mess.

Remind me I owe you a beer.
