I'll say it again. DO NOT LET TOYOTA CRC YOUR TRUCK! Woolwax it every late fall and it will look 2 years old in 10 years. Crc it and it will have a hole in the frame in 11

True, and that's why I haven't decided yet.

I guess what it really comes down to is this:
Is the frame more likely to rust with the CRC and woolwax/fluid film/mavcoat etc on top, or just the owner applied rustproofing?

I doubt it'll fail in less than 12 years if I take car of it, so what does the extended warranty really do for me?

For those with 2017 and 2016 this is the plug they put in (I had to take mine off when installing my rci crossmembers) I did peek inside the frame since I had it off and mine is waxed in there

The new CRC isn't the black coating from the last campaign. It's a totally new product which is basically a heavier version of fluid film. They also have an entirely new process to apply it, which includes some disassembly, a special internal frame washer which removes all salt and dirt from the frame, and a special internal frame dryer that blows hot air into the frame for 8 hours until it's bone dry. The compound is then sprayed inside all the boxed sections of the frame. The exterior of the frame like the C channel sections aren't sprayed and it would be a good idea to spray FF yourself on all the other exposed parts of the frame every year.

Does anyone know if skid plates will be in the way of applying this treatment? If so will they cover labor to R&R them or will that be on the customer?

Interesting, so those close off the boxed portion of the frame towards the back?

Dunno about the Toyota treatment, but they are in the way when doing a full undercoat Krown treatment. I remove mine before taking it to the shop...I'd rather them spend the time of R&R skid with Krown application time. It's 3 mins of wrench vs 3 mis of spray in right spots...I'll take the spray

Yup right where the brake lines are bolted up on the frame. It's not water or dust tight but to keep debris out

My 2019 has these. If you look at the end there is s hole that a hose fits in. You can soak it clean by spraying a hose in there. Then it all comes out a plug on the bottom that allows stuff out but not in. Then you can insert your fluid film or woolwax hose in there and fill the bitch. Next summer repeat.

Because Toyota is not competent. If they were we would not need this after purchasing a 3rd gen with the same problem as a first gen. I trust no car dealers or companies. My dad once told me. "If you want something done right do it yourself" So that's what I do.

I think all 2019’s have already had this treatment done at the factory. So people getting this done on a 2011 - 2017 would be bringing their frames rust proofing up to the same standard that your truck already has.

Your truck isn’t part of the campaign so you shouldn’t be trying to influence other people’s decisions, especially since you don’t seem to know much about the specifics of this campaign.

I'm not trying to influence anybody. I'm stating my opinion. I went through it with my 2005 Sport. And the 18 and 19 are not part of the campaign because they are too new. In another year everyone with an 18 and 19 will get the same letter. It comes in waves to not overwhelm the dealerships. The monkey that works on your truck with scratch it, nick it, do it half assed, but as long as you are ok with that then so am I. Go for it.

    None... yet.
Yep, I saw that pic and thought and thought "huh, those look familiar." I stuck the 360 degree spray extension in there and went to town when I FF'd in October.

I did as well. I also removed some plugs under the front wheel wells. Used almost a half gallon of woolwax just inside the boxed areas. Then reinstalled plugs.

That sounds like influencing to me ....

I could be wrong but people on here have mentioned that their 2018 and 2019 trucks show evidence of the CRC having been applied at the factory. (Yellow woolwax weeping from inside the boxed subframe areas)

Once again I will remind people this is nothing like the black CRC coating in the last campaign. The material is completely different and the application process is completely different. I think Toyota got it right this time. This is only my opinion.

Toyota is great. Let's sell a truck with a sensor in the grill that needs a service bulletin. Ok, I'll bite. Here is my truck. Please fix my sensor. Monkey sticks a piece of foam tape on rear of my sensor. Scratches my grill surround. Here is your truck sir. 2005 TRD. Letter from Toyota. We want to inspect your frame. Ok I'll bite. Here is my truck. Your frame looks good sir so we blasted it with a serious wad of turkey chili shit mess. Every time I got under I came out looking like uncle Remus. Said screw this and traded it in. My buddy wanted my truck so bad he went to the dealer I traded it to and purchased it 3 days after I traded it. A month later he is at his mechanic getting an oil change. Guess what his mechanic found. Holes in the frame. This is 6 months after the shit treatment. So the monkey at Toyota noticed the holes and filled them with turkey chili. So the monkeys at Toyota will not touch my truck again unless there is a major failure that is under warranty. I hope this influences someone.
