Exactly. Why coat every single frame when only a fraction are even affected? And of the affected only a small percentage of them will actually come in for inspection. And of those that get inspected, an even smaller percentage will qualify for a new frame.

So instead of 200k/year (roughly based on Tacoma sales), you’re looking at about 5000-10,000 (my guess).

Not only that but I bet in some people’s minds that look at this and say, “Man, isn’t it awesome that Toyota is stepping up to replace my rusted frame on my 10 year old truck. They really stand behind their stuff. That’s why reliability and resale are so high. I’m gonna buy another Toyota when it’s time”.

In the end, some finance person capped the unit cost of the vehicle and marketing thought a nicer radio would sell more trucks than a better frame. It’s flashier.

Do you think it's possible that this is not all 2017s? I called the number and gave my VIN and Toyota said nope. How could my frame be any different than other 2017s? Weird.

It is location of ownership based.

Thank you. I should have added.

2017 SR AC 4x4 MT, long bed. Registered and driven in Wisconsin. It's on the notice, or so I thought.

Interesting. I would think Wisconsin would be included.

Agree 100%, except the percentage of trucks in the rust belt is WAY higher than you're estimating. Probably 75K-100K trucks per year.

Why not let toyota CRC it (so you qualify for the warranty) then still proceed to do the regular frame cleaning and maintence yourself?

he thinks the CRC is the same type of coating and application style as the last campaign. It’s not.

That's the application Toyota does for this frame campaign

Toyota did not step up in their own.A class action law suit forced them to "own" up to the known problem.

NO frame problems, but I got a free napkin with words on it due to being in a salt state.

It could be anything really. Right now it’s a piece of paper in my possession. Days from now it could be the barrier between my hand and a rogue spider, in a match to the death.

Ooh good call. That’s a vulnerable place, and the spiders natural ambush point.

I bet less than 1/2 of sales are going to rust belt states. And of those only maybe 10% actually will make their way back to the dealer for coating....so about 10k maybe less.

The letter they sent out doesn't say anything about a class action law suit. Either way, it's perception. You can take it however you want, I was just betting that some people might put a positive spin on it.

I just got my truck back earlier today from the Dealership for this CRC application. The Toyota corolla car they gave me as a rental has amazing gas mileage. The whole process took a day and a half. Put on 2 plug hole kits and the campwax
