Than there is in my new to me 2021 TRD off road. I'm just an old 65 yo guy who is probably on his last truck. I beat my 2009 on the back roads of Maine with a couple of dog boxes in the rear. Do i have any options on increasing my dry stoage? I don't want a full tool box in the bed so do i have any options and are they easy to install yourself or will i have to take it to a shop. I'm afraid I need steps to get my 91 yo mother into her seat for her Drs appointments. Arg...Are there any good accessories shops in the Boston are? The only thing i do with my trucks are beat them up but gently. They do getserviced. Try getting dog vomit of your back seat.
Well i figured you young moto head Tacoma fans would know whats going on. I see your trucks on the road and the love is evident. Ha.. I got to see Willie Nelson and Bob Wier Willie Nelson and Bob Weir a couple of nights ago and I’ll tell you it was a hell of a combination show. Half dead Heads and half Willie fans in cowboy boots. A couple of nights ago and both sets of fans cheered equally for each performer. Willie is 90 years old now so this could very well be my last show seeing
Opps.old man wanering off tangent again. Don’t ever get old guys.

Great show but wandered if topic. The 2021 TRD has a lot less interior for tucking a wallet, eyeglasses, and the console is smaller. A dry lock box wiuld be great for a few travel rods and reels, GPS collars for the dogs. A few days worth of dog food. A small box of tools. Tie downs, tow strap, come along, electric chain saw, camp axe. A bivy bag, sleeping pad and bag. Chunk of 3/8th rope. Lots of things I'd like to keep dry and out of the cab i suppose?
I'm sure anything i out is a dry box will end up bouncing around the cab like it always does.

i came from a full size and have no issue carrying the same every-day tools, ladders, outdoor gear, dogs and supplies, in my tacoma. obviously, there is less overall space and i had to re-organize a bit but, i store and take with me the same items in my tacoma that i did in the full size.

i am not understanding what your issue is and why you would struggle with storing a wallet and eyeglasses, or anything for that matter that you stored and carried in your '09.

    best of luck.

I’m sure what you used on your older tacoma to store those things would fit the your newer tacoma. What are you talking about .

60 and feeling bent out of shape too...
I put a small cross bed box on my 23, the little one that is barely a foot wide, not very deep. It doesn't hold much, but a rod, reel, dog food and straps would go in it with room to spare, chainsaw would fit as well, and it doesn't affect the bed use much if at all, plenty of room under the box for full length things in the 6 foot bed. I really like it! Won't be putting a suitcase in there like I did with the regular cross bed box, a couple skinny duffel bags would take up most of it.
I agree there aren't as many cubby holes in the cab for little things.

I think you need to trade your truck in on an 09 Tacoma.

I had a 2010 Tacoma (Sport) and moved to a 2021 Tacoma (OR) and the only storage I’ve noticed missing are the cubby in the bed and the sunglasses holder above the rear view mirror. I guess I’ve also lost that little change holder pocket in the dash (right knee side) and that little dash cubby on the left side. Neither of those dash cubbies served much practical use, so I don’t really think about them much.

For “in cab” storage, I leverage the cubbies under my back seats (trailer hitch, recovery strap, flashlight) and behind the rear seat backs (fire extinguisher, first aid kit, battery jump pack).

Bottom line, though, is I made a similar move between Tacoma model years and didn’t notice a real difference in interior storage.

Any day above ground is a good day.

Depending on what I outfit, I like the large plastic tool chests. Throw them in the bed when I want to haul tools or camp gear, store them in the garage when I dont.

Good grief, I remember when those things were 20 dollars. I complained when I paid 30 a piece for my set of conticos. That wasn't that long ago. :annoyed:

For interior, I use the truck's behind the seat storage for my daily carry items (jump starter/cables, air inflator, grocery bags)

I use a folding trunk organizer for groceries and not-daily items. It goes behind the back seat with the grocery bags when not in use.

And over a period of many years I have collected a whole host of camp organizers, chuck boxes, and binto bags, whatever the brand of the month is calling them. I use it to transfer soft goods from house to truck to camper. It works well for backseat storage.

Right now I'm using a mix of Kelty bags and Camp Chef's portable kitchen:

It stores neatly when in travel mode

And finally, if you have dogs, get seat covers. I run Clazzio PVC covers (they look and feel like leather) and then an Amazon dog hammock over that. It makes clean-up a breeze and it protects the interior.
