so as some of you know i havent been able to get my speedometer to work... well i went over to toyota and had a tech look at the truck...

come to find out, my truck is set up for a cable driven speedometer... the guage itself is for a cable speedometer... and i found the old cable tucked up under one of the exhaust heat shields.... cut and destroyed of course...

well the motor, transmission and transfercase are from a junkyard out of a newer 1st gen tacoma... so the transfercase has an electrical vehicle speed sensor in it....

needless to say... i feel pretty screwed at the moment...

does anybody know if the cable driven sensor is the same size and gear as the electrical one???? could it be as easy as buying the cable driven sensor and just swapping it out????
