Looking to order a xenon kit today. Anyone have any input on morimoto from TRS vs the philips set from Xenon Depot? I am aware of the shaking issue with the Morimotos.

Aren't the LED bulbs just dispersing light all over the place? I saw someone posted their LeD bulbs made it so they cannot see when it's dark and raining.

HID is fine. The low beams use projectors. LED is sub par compared to HID.

I have the Phillips 4300k from xenon Depot in my 2015 Subaru with halogen projectors. The build quality is outstanding as well as the light output too!! Such a world of difference compared to stock. There's also a nice cut off line. You'd never know they are halogen projectors.

Here's a pic of the cut off from about 30' away. As you can see it's pretty crisp. I did aim my headlights down a little after installing them, but only a hair.

I'm mostly looking for increased light output. I have trouble seeing in some lighting conditions with the stock bulbs. I'd love to retrofit like I did with my previous dodge but no affordable options and I have different life prioritys now.

I can't say with certainty because our cars are different, but on mine the output is vastly increased. 4300k is the sweet spot with the most useable light.

I have auxbeams, the led bulbs work great with projector headlights. And for the price was a much appreciated upgrade.

If you're interested in reducing your light output/throw, follow this advice.

Any HID will give you increased visibility over stock, but xenondepot with phillips bulbs are using better bulbs than morimotos (imo) and hylux ballasts which are better quality than morimoto in my experience.

However, hylux ballasts are faster firing which takes more amperage on the warmup than what it seems like the morimotos do, and may require either a relay harness or a fuse upgrade to keep from blowing the undersized 15 amp fuse.

I just installed the Morimoto Elite HID system for my third gen. Its night and day difference as compared to the stock, shit halogens. I got the 35W ballasts and 4500k bulbs. I should have done this mod ages ago, totally worth it. I would avoid LED for your low beams as they dont work right with stock projectors, ie scatter light all over.

LEDs lack the hotspot necessary for throwing light down the road.

Stock halogen left and hid right

Same here. LEDs are not the answer. I'd compare those to a cheap spacer lift on the Tacoma. Throwing hids in halogen projectors is like a bilstein/ome lift. There are better options out there, but it'll get the job done pretty well. Then there's king/fox/etc. Those are proper retrofits that'll knock your socks off. Yes they're better but as long as there's no glare being thrown to incoming drivers, there's nothing wrong with HIDs in stock projectors.

Yeah. I tried to make that clear in my earlier posts that while it worked for me, YMMV

What are the pictures that prove otherwise? Are you considering the squirrel spotters as a condition of the projector's cutoff? Those are designed to throw light above the cutoff to help with visibility of signs and the light intensity in that bit is very low. Lower than the stock halogens, in fact, thanks to the return wire of the HID bulbs casting a shadow in that.

I've personally driven past my truck with HIDs coming the opposing way while above the cutoff and was not at all inconvenienced. My wife's even mentioned she thought the lights looked dim from her perspective as oncoming traffic. Would a retrofit be better? Absolutely. Does not retrofitting mean you're blinding oncoming traffic as a result of this cutoff and/or that this setup is in any way worse for your own visibility than halogen? Not even remotely true.

As to your other claims of the hotspot not being the only factor, width, etc...you're not wrong. However, I can assure you, this is throwing light everywhere better than the halogen.
