That my friend is why you need to run D2S projectors. Rebased bulbs are OK, but like I said earlier, running the Morimoto D2S mini 4.0 with these bulbs is incredible. My Vermont winter road panzer truck is a 05 Ranger FX/4 that is running this setup and it is just incredible. You should see the MB and Beemie Boys look when I pull along side at night. LMAO. Is that a flippin' Ranger they ask? I can read lips. LOL.

Now, if the dealer and I can ever come to an agreement on that '17 Black Limited I have an eye on, I will find out what it takes to do this conversion on a Tacoma.

@NAVVetCV62 : I agree that a relay harness is a good idea, but it really depends on what types of ballasts you are using. I can safely say that with the ballasts in our kits the relay harness is optional. The only reason you would need it is if your vehicle isn't able to supply a stable 12V. Unfortunately, there are varying levels of quality when it comes to aftermarket ballasts, so it really depends on what type of ballasts you're running.

@xola3que - did you see these?

I have these in my fogs and they are amazing! cut through the fog easily and provide awesome visibility in the rain. If these were legal in the headlights I would use them there as well. I have the XD pure white led's in the headlights. I've been a long time XD fan and have used them in my past 3-4 vehicles and will continue to use them!

Don't want to beat a dead horse here. As you know, stable 12VDC and circuit ampacity are two different things. Some of these guys are changing their fuses from factory spec and upping the amp ratings in order to run ballasts without a harness. Man, that is playing with fire. I am sure you have good product. I run XB35 ballasts which are good as well and would never ever consider running them without a relay harness. I would not run Denso's or Koito's without a harness for that matter. Maybe the factory does on OEM installs but if they do, the wiring and fusing is sized accordingly by the engineer.

I'm assuming you have them installed by now, but i did have to apply a decent amount of force to get my bulbs to seat properly. Ive installed hundreds of bulbs, these were probably the most effort to seat.

Factory stuff so far. Mud flaps, tow package, weather mats, bed mat.
Jumped on the XD Phillips 4300k bandwagon with my order this morning. At this point I plan to use the "optional" harness.
Looking for any new install tips, including keeping the harness install as clean as possible.

Why are you linking to an interior LED kit in a thread about headlamp replacements?

That wasn't supposed to hyperlink. I was referring to the LED headlights made by them. My bad

Check out the hylux thread to see what a former OPT7 LED owner said about transitioning to HID. HID > LED.

@CH Luke - Thank you for your business :)

You're going to like our harness... 2 relays, 2 fuses, 2 grounds, 2 completely independent relay harnesses should something ever fail. The ballasts we use in our kits are low draw, so you can safely power them right from the OE wiring, however there is no downside to using the relay harness - it's extremely well made.

Well after tons of reading and comparing TRS Morimoto kit vs. XenonDepot I decided to go with the XenonDepot 35w kit with Philips bulbs. Excited to get these installed!

To the people that installed a 20A fuse instead of the 15A in the H-LP LO fuse spot: Any issues so far?

@XenonDepot - Do you have a copy of the installation guide? Looking at the pictures on your website I'm a little confused. There seems to be a lot of extra things going on.

Our HID kits are designed to be plug n play. What were you getting confused by?

And here is the link to our HID install guide: XenonDepot HID Install Guide

XenonDepot....when are you getting more of the Philips bulbs in? I had an order placed recently, but cancelled due to back order.

On the website there is a large rubber grommet with four wires going through it. Where does that go? I'd like to use the existing wiring of the truck, will the ballast input plug into the existing low beam harness?

Don't get me wrong, I install electronics and avionics on aircraft on a regular basis at work, so electrical wiring is no problem. It's just there seems to be more connectors and wires than there should be.

The two relays and wiring, are they included in the kit? They are not listed on the What's Included tab for the kit.

The link to your install guide seems to be broken.

    Thank You!

    Awesome, thanks for the info!

What kind of homebuilt do you fly?
