What color temp would be closest to the DTRL'S? I'd like to order a kit from XD but I don't think the 4300 would be a good match for the LEDs.

It's kind of a moot point. Anything from 4300k to 6000k looks close to the DRLs because they dim when the headlights come on, and the headlights are so bright, you can't really get a head on comparison and still see the DRL's.

Good question. The Morimoto 5500k is spot on once it warms up. I originally had the 4500k bulbs but the 5500k is a better match. The Morimoto bulbs will work with the XD harness.

Are you still waiting for you Phillips bulbs?

I'm also waiting but am considering ordering a second bulb set if something else is better, like the 5500k Morimoto.

I think you may be the only one with all the bulbs.

    Edit:

I'm thinking of ordering these to try, I think they are the correct ones.

Ok thanks. I'll grab a set. Whichever I like less can be the spares.

Does anyone have experience with the Diode Dyanmics HID kit? I bought interior LEDs from them and was extremely happy but it sounds like the XenonDepot Philips HIDs are the way to go.

It says they use the hylux ballasts which were said to be the best of the best earlier in the thread. (unless I misread)

Diode Dynamics uses hylux, XD has hylux lookalikes but they aren't them based on startup amps and lack of genuine asic chip window. I prefer hylux and would opt for thier ballasts myself even though doing so dictates the need for a harness.

The Hynix also requires a relay, correct?

So then purchasing the Diode Dynamics kit would result in more wiring? Not sure I want to add more points of failure. Is it worth the extra fuss for "real" hylux ballasts?

Reliability and durability are important to me, which is why I opted for the best relay harness. So far it seems everyone who's gone that direction has had success with zero failures or DOAs.

Sorry if you already posted but which kit did you go with? Or did you buy each part independently?

So for a few seconds of quicker startup time, you need to buy more equipment, use more wiring, and have more install time. I don't see a benefit for just a few seconds of startup speed. Maybe I'm ignorant to more facts but nobody has had reliability issues with XD kits from what I'm reading.

I've had no shaking issues with TRS and Morimoto. From what I've read it's been mostly an issue with 5500k bulbs and 55w ballasts. I'm using 35w ballasts 5500k bulbs and everything works as it should.

I agree. 35w ballasts with 4300k bulbs, no shake here.

So the question remains then. Phillips and 4300 at almost 50 dollars more or trs 4500 or whatever the comparison is

Both are miles better than stock halogens.
