For some time now I have wanted something to help move the boat/trailer in and out of the garage. I have seen a few different designs on YouTube and decided to put one together with a few of my own mods.
I used a winch to power the mover and instead of mounting a battery or jump pack on the mover I connect it to the boat batteries via a twist-lock plug. I can pull a handle on the winch to put it in neutral and the dolly moves easily. Once connected to the trailer I then attach the power plug to the boat batteries and put the winch in gear. Power is supplied (forward & reverse) via a small hand held remote.
The only problem I really had was by powering one drive wheel the mover wanted to go off to one side if I let go of the handle.
I fixed that by connecting both tires together via some all thread rod. Now I can use the remote and walk around the trailer to be sure the outboard motor stays clear of the back wall of the garage while it’s still moving.
Since I had some left over JD Green paint I brushed it on and I now call it my “Green Machine”
I snapped this picture before I had actually mounted the twist lock plug on the cord. Guys if you need help moving a trailer of any sorts you need to consider one of these, they take all the work out of the equation.

Glad it works for you, but I find my truck to be the easy way to move trailers.

I park my enclosed trailer on a bit of a hill. I leave the concrete block tire chock there permanently and just pull over it when driving away. When parking, just place it back in the exact location. Have not needed to move either the wheel chock, or the block under the jack in years.

Man if that works for you that’s great. In my case we have a 3-car garage and the boat gets parked between 2 vehicles. It requires way more juggling than backing in with my Tacoma or even my New Holland TC40D tractor. This method wins for us.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I’m no expert welder but it did turn out OK. The thing I like best is once the boat has started to enter the garage I can let go of the dolly, walk to the rear of the boat and continue moving the boat with the remote until it is completely in without fear of the outboard hitting the drywall. With all the hot weather here in Ohio it’s really getting a workout as we have been fishing quite a bit.

Thats badass.. if I had spare time to build one id definitely consider it. Have to use my quad for now and it isn't ideal.

Damn. I might need one of those. That's a cool rig.

Right now I back mine into the middle of the garage with my truck, unhitch, then lift it onto a set of wheel dollies. Then I push it into place by hand. If I had a mover that could climb my sloped drive, hell yeah, sign me up.

You know they make a commercially available one also that’s powered.
