The missus and I are selling our house and moving into an RV Feb 1st.

The issue I'm having is what to do with my home built camper?

I built it when my 3 boys were in Scouts and I ended up Scoutmaster for 7 years. We'd go camping monthly so it got plenty of use. Now my boys are older and out of the house and I lean toward backpacking instead of car camping.

I can store it (costs money) but will really only use it 1-3 times per year.

I can give it away but there is no guarantee it won't end up rotting in the woods somewhere. Can't let that happen.

I can sell it but that would be a unique sale and what price. Don't really care about the money.

The camper is very solid. About 15 years old now. Weather proof and insulated on the inside.

I guess ideally if there was someone out there with young kids a willingness to keep it up and store it properly then I'd let it go.

Well I'm going to turn it over to you guys to offer some sage advice? I'm at a point where I have to make a decision. The default decision is to store it but would rather it got used.

What a great project! Very impressive. I have been working remotely for a year now, looking to upgrade my setup and am interested. How is the insulation? Are you based in Harrisburg, PA?

    Thanks.

The insulation is around the sides and top/bottom. Not in the front or on the door. I do have a buddy heater that keeps the entire cabin toasty on really cold nights.

And yes in the Harrisburg area.

What is weight and ease of sliding in and out? Do you have short or long bed?

About 800lbs and fits perfectly in a short-bed. Camper frame below. Jacks on either side raise it up. Remove the bars and back in. About 10 minutes start to finish. Will have to have tires to support (BF Goodrich T/A work and look good). Also, a pair of Firestone airbags are a must.

Quite the setup. Could you see working on a long bed?

Can't really see it working on a long bed.

Since it fits perfectly in the "box" then the stability would be very questionable in a long bed not to mention it looking a bit interesting in a long bed.
