Yep, if your planning on getting into mountains a bunch. Look West of there.

As many have said- congrats for getting out of SoCal! Embrace where you are going.
Spent my first 30 years in San Diego- loved it- was outdoors lots.
Moved to Charlotte area- could not be happier. You can more easily afford to live. Once in your new home, you will begin to see just how crazy CA actually is. We still go back to visit though.

Out here, as with many other places, trucks spray a brine solution of water and Magnesium chloride. Just hose down the bottom of your truck when you can.

The title of your thread could have been interpreted much, MUCH differently.

I second the fluid film. I put 4-5 cans for my first application in October. 2-3 cans every year after around the same time before winter. This stuff works awesome and repels everything.

Some misinformation here, CDOT started using salt this winter, not exclusively, but they are using it now.

Someone posted an article on it. It's not quite the same, or nearly as corrosive.

The brine they just switched too this year? News to me and I bet if true still a non-factor. No way the tree huggers here allow anything that is strong enough to harm environment.
